Baseball series moved due to G-20 summit

I think this is so ridiculous, probably because I was really looking forward to catching it. They better not swap the Cardinals series.

HALLADAY'S RETURN TO T.O. IN JUNE MOVED DUE TO G-20 SUMMIT

Roy Halladay's return to Toronto as a member of the Philadelphia Phillies in late June won't be happening as planned.

The series has been moved to Philadelphia because of security concerns due to the G-20 summit, which is taking place in Toronto at the same time.

Since the summit will feature many of the world's major political leaders, and will take place at the Metro Convention Centre close to the Rogers Centre, all parties involved agreed to the move.

"This was an extremely difficult decision and one which we did not take lightly," said Rogers Sports Entertainment President and CEO Paul Beeston. "By moving our games to Philadelphia, we are acting in the best interests of our fans, our employees, the players and the game of baseball.

"We did not want to move the games but in looking at the realities of this situation, we felt that relocation was the most prudent course of action."

The three-game interleague series will run June 25-27, and would have been Halladay's first time back playing in Toronto after being traded in the off-season.

Despite the fact that the series will be played in Philadelphia, Toronto will bat last during the series and the designated hitter will be used.

All ticket holders will receive a full refund on their tickets from the Jays, as well as one free ticket voucher for each ticket refunded for any upcoming home game this season.

The three-game set is the only planned meeting between the two clubs this season.

The extra security measures in Toronto's downtown core will start two weeks before the summit, and residents of the area, as well as people who work there will have to register to get access.
