Chicago's latest attempt to subvert the 2nd Amendment went in to effect yesterday

Highlights:

*$100 permit fee
*~$75 for training
*$10 per year, per gun
*MUST be fingerprinted.
*Only one operable handgun inside of a home at any time.
*Cannot carry the gun on your porch, garage, or yard.

And somehow, this is going to make Chicago a safer city. Really?

All it's doing is turning law abiding low-income people in to criminals. But, maybe that's the point?

The restrictions are ridiculous. Can't carry your gun in your own garage? Really?

How do the ****in liberals not know, that restricting gun laws for the public is a crime spike waiting to happen.

The people who break the law, unlawfully purchase/use guns are going to do it anyway. The people who need the protection, are the ones who follow the law.

Guns don't kill people, gang violence and dumbasses and people who don't give a shit about others or the law do.

The fees are reasonable, training is a good idea, and I have no problem with fingerprinting... but the last two points are clear violations... ONE handgun per house? What the f is that?

Yeah. Look at Britain. They're overrun with gun crime.

Constitutional rights are great, as long as you're willing to pay for them, I guess.

Subvert the 2nd Amendment? Good grief...

For nearly 30 years, it has been illegal to own a handgun in Chicago. Now they're changing that. Albeit, with some stupid restrictions that I really don't approve of. But still, a Constitutional right that Chicago residents have been denied for 3 decades has finally been made available again. And in the midst of evil gun-hating Obama's term even. 2 years ago, this place was drowning in threads about how Obama was going to forcefully take the nation's guns away. Now here we are watching Naziland Chicago overturn their firearm ban.

This is a ****ing step in the right direction. A small step, but at least rights that were formerly denied are now accessible. The "One operable" limit is total BS, but there's really no way for them to monitor or enforce it. So that really isn't going to be a deal-breaker for people. It's a great idea to have trigger guards on all weapons not used for self defense anyway.

Lets be clear, Chicago didn't overturn the ban, the SCOTUS did.

In this case better than bad is still progress. Much more progress than anybody ever expected in this situation. Rights that once were not available have been given to the people.

Same with the Swiss.... oops, wait... a country of 7.6 million with 3 million guns in private homes... yet a lower gun crime rate than the UK.

You can't compare other countries... violence is an extension of the general culture... something that is unique to each nation.

And for the record, I'd rather see twice as much gun violence than become the giant vagina of a nation that Britian is.

I guess that's one way to look at it. Another way to look at it is an entire city has had their rights infringed upon for however long, and now they're being given a portion of them back, but only if they're willing to 1. pay money and 2. submit to an invasion of privacy through fingerprinting.

It sucked before, and it only sucks a little bit less now. And criminal activity is completely unaffected, still.

Sadly, that's pretty appropriate. It's suckage in the right direction... errr.. it's positive suckage... No... it sucks better than I expected it would suck...

**** I don't know... it's better than seeing the laws get more restrictive.
