Arizona congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords shot at public event

Giffords shot at meet n greet in front of a tucson safeway. Early reports 12 wounded. 4 confirmed dead, early reports say giffords was shot in the head. 3 of her staff are also wounded. No report from the hospital on giffords.

Very sad, I watched her read the first amendment on CSPAN thursday. Saw her interview on Fox yesterday seems very middle of the road. Its a shame people rush to make political points out of this.

Whats important is 5 people are dead, amoung them a child, a federal judge, and others. If any point should be made its a human point, this guy from his posts in social media was obviously troubled, if you see these kinds of posts, for gods sake, do what you can to help or get help for that person, the llives you may save could be your own or those of loved ones or friends.

Its clear to me from his lists of favorite books he had no political leanings left or right. I would say that from his youtube videos he is what others have said,, mentally Ill.

However, to blame free speach would dishonor the congresswoman in my opinion, as she read aloud the first amendment in congress on thursday.

I disagree. In the current political climate with this shooting she was wise to remove it as it would surely be used against her by the left. I think a lot of people would see that too. Just not her partisan opponents.

Doesn't matter if she was, in fact, very middle-of-the-road. It doesn't take much to make your average right-winger paranoid of anything to the left of themselves.

Wise? No, wise would have been not to use it in the first place. The possibility of that type of rhetoric and advertising inciting violence was discussed months ago on the national stage. She defended it, she owns it (the ad and the fallout, not the crime).

I doubt it. Any number of prior incidents have failed to severely dent her following. Her supporters simply do not care about the stupid things she does or says. If they did, they wouldn't love her so much in the first place.

When she does something stupid, the media reports it, she whines about the media attacking her (you know--for reporting what she said), and her dimwit followers love her even more.
