Chiefs Cassel did, does, and will always suck - Page 29

I had backed off on my Cassel hate in the second half of the season because he actually started to play with a modicum of competence. But I never stopped being wary of him, because he was playing well against shitty, shitty ****ing teams.

But today is proof positive that Cassel is NOT the answer. He will NOT be a franchise quarterback. He simply doesn't have the ability or the intelligence that is required. He never really progressed this season; he just managed to not shit himself against the NFC West.

Can we all just agree that he's not the answer? Please?

No, Roethlisberger is a freakish blend of country strong. Dilfer said that he's the only QB he's ever seen who can complete a full play fake while whipping his arm through in full motion and have enough hand strength to hold onto the ball.

It wouldn't surprise me if Gabbert was as strong, or stronger in the weight room than Roethlisberger. He's built like a brick shithouse. It's that weird forearm and handgrip strength that I was referring to (somewhat inarticulately).

I love the guy. But man... I want a QB that's better than "serviceable". A "game manager" is fine, but wouldn't you rather have a game changer?

It's the most important position on the field. Put the most talented guy you can find at that position. Not some dude who you figure can "manage" it.

Great post my thoughts exactly, the last true game changing QB we had was who?.... I guess Joe Montana? Maybe Trent Green, now I thought Green was awesome but really in hindsight you can make the argument that any QB could put up those numbers behind that O-line and Priest Holmes carrying the ball.

It's what I was alluding to in my earlier post, Take a shot at a QB in the draft every five or six years or so until one pans out to be the game changer. I'm tired of hand me downs and cast offs. The most important position on the team and it seems we never make it a high enough priority.

Now if you can get an all star QB that may be up in contract with their team and willing to sign go for it, otherwise use the draft and sooner or later we're gonna strike gold.

We have to move the chains next year period. The only way we score are big plays by JC and DBowe. This offense doesn't sustain drives but it's not all about Cassel. We need OL and WR help even more. I don't think Cassel is the guy either but I don't see who we are going to get next year that will be any better. Cassel was also set to fail with the play calling today. I'm hoping that was Weis and not Haley or we are ****ed. Maybe tanking next year for Andrew Luck is the answer

Gabbert is a strong guy but there is no way he is stronger in the weight room than Roethlisberger, maybe after a year or two of nfl weightlifting but not now.

Montana had two SBs in hand by 1986, and was facing the LT-Harry Carson-Carl Banks Giants defense in a league where QBs could actually get hit and WRs weren't protected with forcefields.

Unless that All-star QB is young, no thanks. I want a young stud that will grow alongside the rest of these youngsters.

That's been my theory for years.

Pick a QB in EVERY draft until you find a winner.

If you don't have "The Man", the rest of the the positions mean jack shit.

Roethlisberger is actually kind of a fat dude. Always has been. But he's not the kind of guy whose strength is measurable, it's only observable.

Here's the difference:

In this league, you can win with Jermon Bushrod as your LT, or Jabari Greer as a CB.

We can win a SB with Tyson Jackson (yes, him) starting at LDE and Barry Richardson at RT.

We can't win a SB with Matt Cassel at QB. And that's why he's the problem.

This isn't an over reaction, over 6200 days since we last won a playoff game, a playoff game that was won by a hall of fame QB. This seems like an under-reaction for the amount of time that has gone by and we fans still sit here hoping we can win one playoff game when most chiefs fans you talk to were probably little kids 17 years ago, I was 18 years old the last time the chiefs won a playoff game and yet I still root for them religiously while I watch the same afc teams(generally) make the playoffs year in and year out and win games when they do.

How much time has to go by for this team before they finally find a championship formula and execute it?
