Cassel did, does, and will always suck

I had backed off on my Cassel hate in the second half of the season because he actually started to play with a modicum of competence. But I never stopped being wary of him, because he was playing well against shitty, shitty ****ing teams.

But today is proof positive that Cassel is NOT the answer. He will NOT be a franchise quarterback. He simply doesn't have the ability or the intelligence that is required. He never really progressed this season; he just managed to not shit himself against the NFC West.

Can we all just agree that he's not the answer? Please?

Sadly, this argument is most likely an exercise in insanity, as the majority of this team's fans will gladly take a win against a bottom feeder in hand over a franchise QB in the bush. They are just too damned short-sighted to ever see these long-term events for what they are.
Here's the problem with your theory. If they wanted him bad enough, no matter what the draft position ends up to be, they could get him. If they believe he is the difference in a perennial winner or loser they will make that trade ala Ricky Williams. The problem being is if they don't feel that way what makes you think they'd pick him at that spot on the first place.

Personally, I'm not one of those people who sit around Madden football style creaming over who we may get in the draft by losing.

I would honestly not be pissed at all if we traded away a couple firsts, seconds, thirds, whatever to get A.LUck. I think he comes into the league and is as good as Matt Ryan right now with an unlimited ceiling. He really is that good.

And yes Cassel has strung together 2 and a half games of good football save one interception on a screen.

Awesome to be defending a QB while at the same time knowing he isn't the answer.

Yea he sucks but he made some plays.

Cassel's career in a nutshell.

It's been said adnauseum on here but Cassel is what he is. I wouldn't really be too upset if we kept him around as a backup.

Not necessarily. If Luck is as good as most fans, experts, and scouts think he is then a Ricky Williams type of trade might not be enough, especially if said team needs a QB. This is a QB driven league and teams know what an elite QB can do (see GB last year).

This is true and it's why we need to cheer hard for a team like STL or INDY to get that number one pick.

Nor I. He is a good backup QB, not just starter material.

Cassel's not the answer, but sadly, he's also not bad enough to have us end up with the #1 overall pick. It's purgatory, all over again. This team has been in some version of it for 25 ****ing years and before that, it was just piss awful.

That's what being a fan of this team is, vacillating between piss awful and mediocre and arguing about the benefits of mediocrity opposed to the opportunities awfulness provides you via the draft.

Hamas, would you be willing to trade damn near the entire draft to get Luck?

If you trade your entire draft for Luck we will still be basically having 4 good to great "draft" picks coming in next year. If the ACL triplets are recoverd and ok gotta remember they didn't play this year. And if Siler can come along with some depth.

Because you can't find a franchise QB outside of the #1 pick in the draft?

He looked off his primary target when he checked down.

He had a good game against a bad team.
