Cassel did, does, and will always suck

I had backed off on my Cassel hate in the second half of the season because he actually started to play with a modicum of competence. But I never stopped being wary of him, because he was playing well against shitty, shitty ****ing teams.

But today is proof positive that Cassel is NOT the answer. He will NOT be a franchise quarterback. He simply doesn't have the ability or the intelligence that is required. He never really progressed this season; he just managed to not shit himself against the NFC West.

Can we all just agree that he's not the answer? Please?

Wait until the murderous upcoming schedule comes. Cassel will continue to show he can't beat any team in the top 20 in the NFL. As a Chiefs fan I hope he proves me wrong, but I don't think at age 29 he has all of a sudden found "it." Fans need to look at a body of work, not a judgement based on a few game set.

This may be true but as someone who wants him replaced, I am not comfortable assuming it will all happen and the people in charge will automatically see it the way they should.

Oh the ones in charge definitely won't see it they way they should. They will hang their hats on the past 2 good games Cassel has had and say "look, he has got it, these games prove it."

And to be quite honest, he does look good on some of those throws. The problem is its his first read. Look at all the times he tries to read a defense and you get either a check-down after 1 read, or a forced pass that gets picked while he does the happy-feet.

Cassel always plays well vs bad pass defenses because his first read is usually open.

He reverted back to the Cassel that played poorly against every other good defense he faced.

He's been that same guy this year.

And even when he plays well, he still isn't playing all that well.

His TD pass to Bowe that was an acrobatic catch was a piss poor throw.

His long TD pass to Breaston was an underthrown poorly, thrown pass.

His only good pass that traveled beyond 10 yards in the air was about a 15 yard seam route.

Everything else was checkdowns, designed swing passes and slants.

I really don't think you're watching the games. Again, I'm not a Cassel fan, but when I see a good pass I say it.
Several times over the last few weeks Cassel has made good NFL QB type throws. He'll throw to a WR that appears covered, bracketed over and under, and he lays the ball right where it needs to be. True, He's done this only maybe three times in the past few weeks, and didn't do it at all in the first two, but I was impressed. The first TD to Breaston was not under thrown, if it was then it would have been intercepted, if it had been over thrown, it would have been intercepted. It was thrown with Breaston moving toward the sideline, in stride, but with enough room to make a move upfield to get the ball over the pylon.

I'm not trying to be a dick, but if Cassel's throwing this many balls to WRs who are double covered, shouldn't he be able to find someone who's single covered/open? Not saying everyone's open on every play or that you can't ever throw into double coverage, but my biggest problem with Cassel is that too often it seems like he's trying to force it to his 1st read, even if he's covered. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, but he doesn't seem to adjust well when it's not working.

I haven't seen that as much the last 2 games. Cassel's overthrown a bunch of passes that almost became picks, but I don't remember seeing him throw straight into a defender. In most cases, he seems to be throwing to a receiver who's open enough to make a play. And in his defense, he's finally starting to put it in the right spots (not as consistently as you like, but better). The big difference is that he's been more decisive. Before, he used to stare down his primary read, panic when he wasn't wide open, look at option B, then throw it to the primary read anyway in double coverage. That decisiveness happened ever since he got grilled by Haley.

I want to see more of that. I dont' care if he gets picks. I'd rather see him take his chances downfield. In my opinion, I think we're seeing that he's a better QB than we give him credit for. But barring some miracle, his kind of play against Indy probably isn't going to win too many playoff games.
