Cassel did, does, and will always suck
I had backed off on my Cassel hate in the second half of the season because he actually started to play with a modicum of competence. But I never stopped being wary of him, because he was playing well against shitty, shitty ****ing teams.

But today is proof positive that Cassel is NOT the answer. He will NOT be a franchise quarterback. He simply doesn't have the ability or the intelligence that is required. He never really progressed this season; he just managed to not shit himself against the NFC West.

Can we all just agree that he's not the answer? Please?

I don't think they opened up the offense. He just got it through his thick head that he has to go down the field for success. He falls into bad habits of looking to his security blanket underneath too often.

The most quintessentially Casselesque moment in today's moment was in the first quarter. He shits a terrible, aimless throw in the general direction of Bowe, who make an incredible effort to snag the ball and somehow get both his feet down in bounds. One yard short. On third down.

Cassel isn't a great long ball thrower, but uh, Joe Montana and Steve Young LIVED and made hall of fame careers off of short and intermediate throws.

I don't think you understood the point he was making.

Plenty of great QB's lived off of short and intermediate routes as their bread and butter. Rich Gannon was the biggest dink and dunker I've EVER watched. Guy didn't throw a ball more than 10 f'n yards more than half a dozen times in a season.
