Off Season Lets Talk Guns

Been a while since we had a guns n' ammo discussion.

Some of you are AR shooters Im sure. Im looking at a Colt 6920. Will be my first AR. Picked up a Glock this fall and really enjoy shooting it. Any feedback on that weapon?

Anyone else been in a buy/sell/trade mood with hardware?

What about HOWA rifles?

I'm trying to decide between more of a battle rifle like the FAL, or a bolt action like this one.

Anyone familiar with the Kahr K40 Elite98 .40? I can pick one up cheap but do not know much about them.

Some shitty news to report. Beautiful day, I had intended to finally take the new AK to the nearest outdoor range, which is annoyingly about an hour and a half away. Even more annoyingly, they've been shut down by a ****ing temporary injunction, effective as of yesterday. The range adjoins a state park, and some liberal ****balls claim they found rounds from the range in the park, which is pretty much impossible. But of course this is the Peoples Republik of Illinois, so the state's trying to use it as an excuse to shut them down. Hopefully it will be unsuccessful. That's the only public range within reasonable driving distance.

That sucks meng. At the range nearest to me, 40 min away, they have LEOs running the show. Used to be just a mound of dirt to shoot at... now there are sidewalks and full on benches instead of repurposed industrial cable spools.

God I love living in the middle of nowhere. We have enough land that I could literally practice 2500 yard shots if I had a 50 cal.

I've done just about give up on going to a public range.Either the place is packed and we have to wait 2 hrs just to get a lane or we get a lane by some idiot who just wants to dump 1,000 rounds without aiming at anything.

I told the wife that I have 2 rooms left to finish on the house and then we're selling and moving outside of town so I can get about 50 acres and make my own damn range.I'm thinking a set up similar to what Hickok45 has would suffice.Looks like I'm just going to stockpile my reloads till I get my own place to shoot.

Sad reality. Its getting harder in alot of places to find somewhere to shoot unless you own or know somebody who owns a decent sized hunk of property. Hope your situation works out and that range reopens.

There are plenty of 25 yard indoor ranges. Who the **** wants to shoot a rifle at a 25 yard indoor range?

If this place gets greased, I think there's another one in Kankakee, which would probably be about the same distance. It's a place you have to join, but the fees aren't bad from what I've heard. I need to do a bit of research.
