How dreadful are the curses which Mohammedanism lays on its votaries! Besides the fanatical frenzy, which is as dangerous in a man as hydrophobia in a dog, there is this fearful fatalistic apathy.

The effects are apparent in many countries. Improvident habits, slovenly systems of agriculture, sluggish methods of commerce, and insecurity of property exist wherever the followers of the Prophet rule or live.

A degraded sensualism deprives this life of its grace and refinement; the next of its dignity and sanctity. The fact that in Mohammedan law every woman must belong to some man as his absolute property, either as a child, a wife, or a concubine, must delay the final extinction of slavery until the faith of Islam has ceased to be a great power among men.

Individual Moslems may show splendid qualities, but the influence of the religion paralyses the social development of those who follow it.

No stronger retrograde force exists in the world. Far from being moribund, Mohammedanism is a militant and proselytizing faith. It has already spread throughout Central Africa, raising fearless warriors at every step; and were it not that Christianity is sheltered in the strong arms of science, the science against which it had vainly struggled, the civilization of modern Europe might fall, as fell the civilization of ancient Rome.

What an interesting quote, from a fascinating man. If I understand him correctly he suggests that Christianity is protected by the rational good intent of the Western world. This would seem to agree with my impression that this is one of the most basic differences between the US and Muslim countries. That we refuse to allow the authority of the Church to be applied to the power of the State.

It's obvious that Churchill was a man far ahead of his time. What saddens me is that with the current administration we stand the chance of Islam getting their way and introducing Sharia Law into our set of laws. Should that happen it would open the door for any "recognized" religion to petition the government to have their set of laws supersede the standing laws of the nation.

Oklahoma voted down the inclusion of Sharia Law by popular vote. A muslim filed a lawsuit and the vote has been suspended. It seems the courts are doing their damnedest to circumvent the will of the people.

The next few years in the U.S. will tell us what form of government we will have. A benevolent dictator, a president elected by the people or we will be ruled by a Muslim state.

Tom, could you link to the story about Sharia Law trying to be included into Oklahoma? Haven't heard anything about that, and I'm curious to read about it before I make conclusions.

Thanks. And I've used Google plenty of times, I just wanted you to do my legwork for me.

So if I'm reading this article correctly, by the letter Sharia isn't a "law", but rather a collective of religious beliefs, and that the plaintiff is somehow thinking they can run an end around the system by using the First Amendment? What a waste of time and taxpayer's money.

You obviously have little knowledge of what sharia law is, not only has the muslims tried to get it into different areas of the country, they have also made their attempts to have it included into the U.S. Code where a muslim cleric can punish a muslim in the U.S. and circumvent U.S. laws, such as Miranda and allow a man to kill his wife freely if she is raped.

Your obvious ignorance of what's being attempted just shows that you cannot and do not give a shit about keeping the U.S. free. Nice going bowser.
