he is right though. more often than not it is a memory issue. Either that or something has gone horribly wrong with the software. when does it go into the BSOD? Are you taxing the system at all when it kicks over? have you gone into safe mode and seen if it does it there too?

Depends what the hex near the top & the error message says, such as the STOP 0x00000... and DRIVER IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL in this pic....

If it happens once, I wouldn't worry about it.

When I used to run old crap like Windows 98 and Windows 2000, I would get the BSOD quite often. Upgraded to a computer with Vista, which didn't BSOD very much but sucked balls (would get hung up and frozen, take forever, etc.,.). Upgraded that computer to Windows 7 and have had very few problems.

Ever since XP the Blue Screens of death have died down signifigantly.

restart and see if it happens again

can be a hardware failure of any kind, sometimes a driver can freak it out too.

Hardware failure usually show up when you start the machine
software corruption usually happen while the machine is running

definitely read the message on the blue screen, it will give you hints.

good luck
