#6 pick tonight - who to take?

10 team league, standard scoring, no PPR.

I expect Peterson and Foster to be off the board for sure, with Charles and Rice most likely off as well.

CJ2K would normally be off, but due to his holdout he might be available. Not sure I want to bite though, seems too risky for round 1.

That leaves the second tier guys like Mendenhall, McCoy, MJD, Turner, and McFadden.

Ideally I would like to draft RB back to back in round 1 and 2, so hopefully I can end up with 2 of these second tier guys.

How would you rank them?

My thoughts:

Mendenhall - solid but unspectacular.

McCoy - I am not high on him, as I think Vick will steal carries and TDs.

MJD - I like him more than most it seems. I think he could have a nice bounce back season, especially if they play Gabbert and don't want to put much pressure on him.

Turner - see Mendenhall. Not sure who I like more between those two.

DMC - He did well for me last year but I'm not solid on him staying healthy or Bush not stealing carries.

#6 is tough. I'd be tempted to go WR w/1 of the big 3; Andre, Calvin or Roddy. Of those RB's, biggest risk/reward guy is MJD. Still hasn't played in preseason. Mendenhall prolly safest but I hate the Steelers.

IMO Andre Johnson is a better pick than the tier 2 guys you mention. (Except maybe MJD, IMO. He's going to bounce back bigtime)

I'd almost rather have Calvin Johnson over Andre Johnson.

I'm not sold on RB-RB, but my league starts 2 RBs, 2 WRs, and 1 Flex, and I usually have had success waiting going RB heavy early as others go for a QB early.

So draft just finished. Against better judgment, I decided to take the risk and go with CJ2K at #6. Recent reports indicate the holdout could end this week, so I took the gamble. I handcuffed him with Javon Ringer at the end of the draft, but obviously I will be watching the CJ discussions closely.

I took the advice here and went with Megatron in the 2nd round, then went with Blount as my RB2 and Ahmad Bradshaw as RB3/Flex.

I gambled on waiting on a QB and ended up with Josh Freeman in the 9th round - that was the pick of my draft for sure.

Here is my full team:

QB - Freeman
RB - CJ2K
RB - Blount
WR - C. Johnson
WR - Brandon Marshall
Flex - A. Bradshaw
TE - Witten
K - Rackers
DEF - San Diego

Colston
M. Lynch
Eli Manning
Mike Thomas
Greg Little
Javon Ringer

Overall I am very happy with my team.

Eli, Freeman, Flacco, Sanchez, etc.

Top guys were off the board, as were guys like Stafford and Big Ben.

6 pts for TD, -2 for INT.

If top 4 RB are taken, get Aaron Rodgers, and make people panic to start grabbing QBs, then you may get Fitzgerald or Calvin Johnson next round.

In a 6 pt league, waiting until the 9th round to draft a QB is a huge gamble. The final four of my league last year were Rogers, Vick, Rivers, and an outlier, Ryan.
