WASHINGTON — CBS News has obtained secretly recorded conversations that raise questions as to whether some evidence is being withheld in the murder of a Border Patrol agent.

The tapes were recorded approximately mid-March 2011 by the primary gun dealer cooperating with ATF in its “Fast and Furious” operation: Andre Howard, owner of Lone Wolf Trading Company in Glendale, Arizona. He’s talking with the lead case ATF case agent Hope MacAllister.

The tapes have been turned over to Congressional investigators and the Inspector General.

As CBS News first reported last February, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives allegedly allowed thousands of weapons to “walk” onto the streets without interdiction into the hands of suspected traffickers for Mexican drug cartels in its operation “Fast and Furious.”

The conversations refer to a third weapon recovered at the murder scene of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry.

Holder was probably playing with legos in his office when he sat in on the conference call detailing what the plan was for handing out weapons to criminals. So I'm guessing the administration is clear on this one.

Just that calling it "Obama's nightmare" is a bit of hyperbole I think.

I think Obama's nightmare is 9.0+ % unemployment continuing into October 2012.

People voted for Obama cause he was going to close Gitmo, stop the wars, bring transparency to government, not be partisan, post all legislation online not raise taxes, and bring the country together.

Forty high-powered assault weapons were found in the Ciudad Juarez home of Jose Antonio Torres Marrufo, a "feared" leader of the Sinaloa drug cartel in that city. The Sinaloa cartel is considered the most powerful drug trafficking organization in the world.

"These Fast and Furious guns were going to Sinaloans, and they are killing everyone down there," one knowledgeable US government source told the Times.
