Is it really that shocking a football recruit wanted to play for Mizzou or anywhere else instead of the worst major conference football program in the country?

95% of ku football players wish they played for Mizzou. This isn't a surprising revelation.

Rivals, and I assume other recruiting services, simply list offers based on what the kid reports. There are numerous instances of kids reporting offers that they did not in fact have.

Also there are different types of offers. For example a "hey we'll take you now" offer and a "you have an offer if Options A, B, and C at your position fall through".

The widely held notion has been....that he had an offer and a time period. Mizzou signed some other guys he came back and wanted in but the time period and the other with it had passed. Then he went to Kansas.

Believe what you will folks.

That is the thing that has been said (at least by me) and others most the time. It isn't that he is shit or we didn't offer anything. It is that he slow played it too much...ran out of time and when we wanted to pull the trigger the whole thing was off the table.

My recollection is that Gabe was reporting in real-time that things looked great for Mizzou, but never that 'the deal was done'.

And it was KK that fueled the idiocy on the B1G fiasco. I don't recall exactly how PM handled it, but DeArmond was generally pretty matter of fact with his reporting and has always done a good job of making clear what is just speculation on his part.

If Gabe doesn't have it, he just shuts up. PM doesn't shotgun information out there and hit on 70% of it. They tend to be much more conservative in what they report and hit on a far greater percentage of it.

Gabe isn't always the first guy to be on a story, but he and Dave Matter are usually the guys with the most reliable information.
