Meh, I think it's not a problem. Obviously, KU didn't have a problem with other guys that wanted a release. Berglund has been a problem since he signed with KU. And I think what coach Weis says here justifies completely KU's handling of the situation.

I'll tell you what I know. Had a conversation with someone high in the KU AD last Sunday about the situation.

Every player that had asked for a release had a face-to-face meeting with Coach Weis. Coach wanted to know the reason for the release, to gather additional understanding about where the program had been and to tune where the program was going. EVERY SINGLE PLAYER that had a face to face with Weis was granted an outright release.

Brock Berglund HAD NEVER HAD A FACE TO FACED MEETING with Coach Weis about his future, his desire to explore his options, his intent. Period. He hid behind emails, phone messages and lawyers.

The process was in place, Berglund felt he was above it. KU (Weis, Zenger) saw this as an opportunity to help this young man stand up for himself and deal with a situation in an adult manner. The second this kid showed up on campus, and asked for his release face to face (i.e. doing things the right way, just like the others that had asked for and been granted their release) he was granted his release.

KU handled this is a fashion that sent a message to any kid thinking about KU - KU will grant you your release, but we're not going to release you while you hide behind emails, phone messages, and lawyers and suck on mommies tit. Man up, for crying out loud.
