Rumors on the WVU board that VPI may actually be the first blow struck, going to the SEC. I agree with others that North Carolina makes the most sense if their goal is a TV market, they have to expand the footprint. Would probably love UNC, but will take NC State.

I disagree. I think ND would be better suited in the Big 10. Too much history and money not too. ND can recruit anywhere in the country and their fanbase is nationwide. If the ACC loses FSU, Clemson, and possibly VT and Miami they become the new Big East. Why would ND drop their football program in a football weak conference? They wont for the same reason why they wouldn't for the BE. ND goes wherever they want and they won't plop their cash cow in the ACC if they are forced into a conference.

Going to be fun to see the Big 12 media spin the fact that they are doing the exact same thing that they cried and pouted about the SEC doing.

KK has done a 180 on Mizzou to the SEC. (His words) He's really excited about it.

The other option is being picked apart until dissolution. I'll take it.

Pretty funny to be called out for hypocrisy from a fan of a school that pledged commitment to the Big 12 a few months before jumping ship.

I just read this Tallahassee newspaper article that just got put out. In that article, if true, he makes it clear that all football and basketball games are owned by ESPN, including non-conference games. (Any game they don't show, is put on ESPN3 or farmed out)

If true, then the BOT chair is simply wrong when he was ranting about basketball favoritism. However, that said, I'm not impressed at all. In the Big 12, schools have quite a bit of T3 inventory, not talking about coaches shows or internet, I mean real T3 inventory, to sell. Despite giving all their T3 to ESPN, the ACC will still make a ton less.

So, that one little aspect of the BOT chair's criticism might be wrong, but it should do absolutely nothing to change where this is apparently going.

FSU's president just put this out:

Quote:
Florida State University regrets that misinformation about the provisions of the ACC contract has unnecessarily renewed the controversy and speculation about University's athletic conference alignment. Florida State respects the views of the Chair of its Board of Trustees that, of course, any university would examine options that would impact university academics, athletics or finances. At the same time, Florida State is not seeking an alternative to the ACC nor are we considering alternatives. Our current commitments remain strong.
This is getting comical. We now have FSU Board of trustees and FSU football coach VERSUS FSU President and FSU AD.

Even though the BOT chair's criticism of the T3 basketball vs football revenue was wrong, that does not change the fact that this was a really, really bad contract. The BOT needs to tell him to get on board or replace him.

In fact, as Dan Wetzel reports, the ACC deal is even worse than we all thought.

Quote:
The first shock to the system hit Wednesday, when the ACC came to terms with ESPN on a 15-year, $3.6 billion agreement that sure sounded good in the press release. Each school was supposedly getting an additional $4 million a year. The average would be $17.1 million annually. Not bad, it seemed.

The reality was bad, however. The initial bump in television revenue is actually just over $1 million a year, sources said, and a total in the $12 million range next season. The deal is back loaded so the bigger money comes in escalator provisions that, considering how broadcast rights keep growing, probably will be below market by the time any sizeable gains are realized.

That additional $4 million per school, per year? That won't come until 2021, nine years in, sources said.

Privately, almost everyone was troubled by the deal.

...

Across the ACC, the television deal was seen as anywhere from a disappointment to a disaster, sources said.

In Tallahassee, it may have been the last straw.
There's no disguising how bad this is, and how obvious an upgrade the Big 12 would be. If FSU's president doesn't get on board with his own BOT, he'll get run over faster than you can say "Missouri Board of Curators".

no way

This round of realignment is going to awesome. Can't wait for months of Florida State shitting allover the ACC while they hike up their skirts to whoever is interested.

If that happens then the SEC can just fall back into the cheating southern conference they've always been.

Imagine you put all this work in and only managed to gain schools like MU and Texas A&M?

wow, lol

Big 12 might just be running show. Couldn't say I didn't warn ya
