Beginning stages of a LONG motorcycle road trip

For the longest time now I've been talking to the wife about taking a really long ride on the motorcycle, riding the Dragon's Tail at Deal's Gap, and perhaps even completing the Saddle Sore 1000 mile challenge where you ride 1k miles in fewer than 24 hours.

With being laid off from work (laid off in the pot industry???) I seem to have a bit of free time and the wife suggested I go ahead and scratch this off the bucket list. I've started planning out the route I think I'm taking but am open to suggestions. I'd also be open to any meetups along the way if any of you would care to show me around your fine city.

(July 6th) First Leg - Denver to Ft. Collins, Ft. Collins to Chicago, Ill (1,038 mi). Meeting up with former CP'er.

Haven't worked out the times yet but these are going to be my stopping locations for my ride into Chicago. The trail stops in Aurora because that will be my final fuel stop before riding to the former CP'ers home. The bike will do 190 miles (including reserve) before I run out of fuel and I will be carrying 1L of additional fuel in case I miscalculate or something turns up closed.

Fuel Stops
Spoiler!

(July 8th) Second Leg - Chicago to Cleveland (345 mi). Meeting up with family.

(July 10th) Third Leg - Cleveland to Pittsburgh (140 mi). Intend to spend half a day here (visit Heinz Field and the Roberto Clemente statue/park... and have lunch), would love to meet with someone, then head out to New Jersey.

(July 10th) Fourth Leg - Pittsburgh to North Bergen, NJ (400 mi). Visit family.

(July 13th) Fifth Leg - NJ to Virginia Beach (330 mi). Visiting a friend but this is the part I'm most excited about riding aside from the Dragon's Tail. I will cross the Delaware Bay in a ferry and the chesapeake bay over AND under the ocean via bridge and tunnel.

(July 15th) Sixth Leg - Virginia Beach to the Dragon Tail (530 mi). Would *LOVE* for a CP'er to come out and ride this thing with me.

(July 16th) Seventh Leg - Deal's Gap to Atlanta, GA (175 mi). Staying with a friend but only staying long enough to catch my first ever Braves home game, eat, sleep, and pack up to ride out in the morning.

(July 17th) Eighth Leg - Atlanta to Nashville, TN (250 mi). Visiting family.

(July 20th) Ninth Leg - Nashville to Wichita, KS (700 mi). Visiting family.

(July 23rd) Final Leg - Wichita, KS to Denver (525 mi). Visiting my own bed.

I love cross country trips. One of my favorite things actually. Heading to Morrison, CO next Saturday then onto KC, stopping in Dodge City for a moment.

Laid off from marijuana and now doing long cross-country drives? Even if you need money, being a drug mule is no way to live.

Why Dodge? I'm not far from there if you need a detour.

If you drive that far and pass through D.C. I would be happy to meet up with you for dinner or drinks. Can show you around the area.

I rode from Indy to Gettysburg, then to Skyline Drive to Blue Ridge Parkway. Rode the Parkway all the way down to Tail of the Dragon. While at the Dragon, ride the Cherohala Skyway, its beautiful!
Don't try to ride to much in one day. We rode from sun up to sun down. It bout killed me.
