ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that the Chiefs plan to use the franchise tag on free agent Dwayne Bowe.
This is assuming the sides can't reach a long-term deal, which they almost certainly won't before the March 5 franchise deadline. The wideout tag is worth $9.5 million, and Bowe would cost at least $11 million a year to lock up. One GM told Schefter that he anticipates "as many as" 25 franchise tags being used this offseason, largely because the salary numbers are down across the board.
