I do feel sorry for Seattle. However, if Bennett doesn't buy the team they don't hire Presti. They'd have KD, but there aren't many GMs that would have picked Westbrook, Harden, And Ibaka where he did. In fact, he was slammed by a lot of people for most of those picks.

Durant and Collison are the only Thunder players that played in Seattle. Bennett bought the team to move it, and Schultz had to have known it. Had Seattle known the future of this team I'm sure that vote would have been different.

He's the ARod of basketball. There isn't a more perfect comparison (purely from a performance standpoint).
Lets see.. The Celtics had to acquire KG & Ray Allen.

The Lakers and Kobe had to trade for Pau. The Lakers also had to acquire Shaq before that.

Not every team is fortunate enough to draft two of the top 50 NBA players of all time (Jordan/Pippen) or have their star go down to injury so they can get a once-in-a-decade prospect (Spurs-DRob & Duncan).

No doubt Lebron made a bad decision in the way he announced he was leaving Cleveland and the Heat made a poor choice to hold the signing celebration. It's been almost 2 years now and they've all admitted the mistake and apologized. People need to get over it.

This argument is stupid.

Jordan, Magic, Isaiah, Bird all played in a different era. They also were all fortunate to be surrounded by studs. Lebron didn't have a single teammate while in Cleveland even close to the caliber of a Pippen, Worthy, Kareem, Parish, McHale, Dumars. The closest Lebron ever got to playing with a HOF caliber player in Cleveland was a broke-dick Shaq in 2009.

I agree with you and if we were to look at this series in the simplest manner Battier had been completely worthless in the playoffs where Harden was great. If that trend had continued I believe the series would be 3-1 OKC instead down 2.

Battier shot 27%, 21% and 36% in the previous series's. He is shooting 65% in the Finals...

Jfc. Enough with the bullshit that people need to get over it. No fan base is ever really happy about a player leaving. Let alone in this way. Telling fans to not hate a guy is kind of ridiculous. We hate lots of ex chiefs.

You are really reaching here. First of all, lebron had some very good teams in Cleveland. The team he took to the finals was stacked defensively and had a deep bench of solid role players. Secondly, lebron is partially to blame for lacking a supporting cast. Jordan and Kobe got their superstars because they committed to their team. Lebron had the opportunity to court teammates. In Miami, he courted battier, Nash, etc.... In Cleveland, he didn't even try to get anyone. And no player knew if lebron was going to stay so they steered away from Cleveland.

But most of all, you're nuts if you don't think the decision is going to weigh big time on his legacy. The story will remain that lebron couldn't win a championship by his own means, so he had to form an artificial superpower to do it. It's the arod narrative. This championship certainly helps his legacy. But the decision will always out him in a distant class from the greats.

We have had this argument many times over but those Cleveland teams were Lebron and 4 scrubs. He didn't even have a Top 25 player on that team outside of himself.

Also IIRC Lebron wanted the team to trade for Amare Stoudemaire and they ended up with shitty Antawan Jamison plus during that FA period before he left he did try to get Wade or Bosh to come to Cleveland and neither wanted to.

I wasn't talking about butthurt Cleveland fans. I was referencing everyone else who hates Miami because of 'The Decision' and the celebration after the big 3 signed.

You're hilarious.

The Cleveland roster from the Finals was (*starter):
Drew Gooden*
Daniel Gibson*
Z*
Sasha Pavlovic*
Larry Hughes
Damon Jones
Donyell Marshall
Scot Pollard
Eric Snow
Anderson Varejao
David Wesley
Shannon Brown
Ira Newble
Dwayne Jones

That's AWFUL.

Secondly, what player has won a championship on his own? Last I checked TEAMS, not individual players, win Championships and nearly every team (except maybe Dallas & Detroit - one time wonders) that's won a Championship in forever has had at least 2 stars.

If you don't know the the fix was in by now I don't know what to tell you. The only thing worse than the fix is the blatant promotion of LeBron by the league and media. I have never in my life seen anything like it. What pisses me off is wasting my time watching this series. This whole season has been a joke from the lock out to Stern keeping Paul out of LA to the lottery and now this in the finals. David Stern is now officially the Vince McMahon of professional sports. All I can do as a previous fan is pull my league pass today and not show up when Showtime comes here locally.

Yeah the way those refs got Westbrook to be a retard and foul when there was only 5 seconds left on the shot clock and 13 left in the game....the fix is in I tell ya!

Now I hate Lebron and the Heat as much as anyone besides maybe Cleveland, but they've had to earn each win against the Thunder in this series. It hasn't been easy, and I still don't think it's over. They better watch out because if OKC gets game 5, it changes the whole series. Back to OKC for 6 and possibly 7? Miami better not let that happen...

The NBA Finals is Rigged. The Miami Heat take game 4 over the Oklahoma City Thunder

Jun 19th, 2012 at 11:38 pm by Kyle AdamsRockets

Home Ľ Rockets Ľ The NBA Finals is Rigged. The Miami Heat take game 4 over the Oklahoma City Thunder

The Miami Heat win game 4 104-98 over the Oklahoma City Thunder thanks to the officials.

Iíve never been a person that bought into conspiracy theories or things being rigged. But after this game obviously being tooled with by the referees and with what happend at the NBA Draft Lottery even iím starting to buy in.

Letís face it, America wants the Thunder to win to keep the hated Heat and LeBron from winning a ring, but at the same time LeBron is the face of the NBA, and how bad would it look for his legacy and the NBA if he never got a ring? Cue the NBA getting involved.

Everytime a Heat player was touched, especially LeBron and Dwyane Wade, a foul was called. Usually in the NBA Finals the referees let most things go, but in 2012 they call everything one-sided to the benefit of the Miami Heat. The Thunder try to draw the same fouls or even get bulldozed by their opponent and still get no whistle. Even ESPNís NBA Analyst Tim Legler got involved on Twitter (@LegsESPN).

ďOKC cannot get the benefit of the doubt on any calls. Too many touch calls for the NBA Finals.Ē

ďMia is playing great. Make no mistake. But itís getting ridiculous how few calls they (Thunder) get on similar plays to what Mia gets. Obvious.Ē

When someone attacked Legler for saying he was just mad the Thunder wouldnít win in 6 games like he predicted (as did i) Tim responded by saying ď I donít care who wins. Dude change that tune. Iím just saying what Iím seeing.Ē

The Heat are a great team with great superstars. They earned their spot in the Finals, but make them work for it. The NBA is serving the championship up on a platter for the Heat and itís completely ridiculous.

The Thunder earned their right to be where they are but are being treated like 2nd place in the Miss America Pagent, ďthey will get theirs, just not yet.Ē I wonder what Timothy Bradley and Manny Pacquiao think about the NBA Finals?

Even with all of this the Miami Heat barely pulled out the last two games. If James Harden and Russell Westbrook played smarter the Thunder would be up 3-1 in this series no thanks to the officials. Iím thinking of even boycotting the rest of the series. Iím disgusted to even write about the NBA at this point, completely pathetic.

I expect for Tim Donaghy (Referee that was busted for throwing games) to make an appearance somewhere soon.

2012 NBA Finals: Breaking Down the Officiating, Are the Refs Favoring Miami?By Sam Quinn(Featured Columnist) on June 20, 2012 4,838 reads
26

The world's hatred for LeBron James and the Miami Heat has led many fans to blame the refs for all of their big wins. I'm obviously guilty of this, and while sometimes it's wrong, lately, it seems like the Heat are getting more and more preferential treatment.

So far in the series, the Heat are shooting 2.5 more free throws per game than the Thunder, not a massive disparity. It seems a bit odd that Miami would have the edge, considering Oklahoma City shot an average of 1.1 more free throws per game during the regular season, but that is understandable.

What seems fishy is where those fouls are being called.

Let's start with Kevin Durant. By now, you've all seen the infamous non-call on LeBron on Durant's game tying attempt. The general consensus is that it was a foul. If you need video evidence, check out this video. Nobody has posted a very clear angle on the foul, but you can see contact if you pause it at around the 26-27-second mark.

Then there are the fouls being called on Durant. He isn't a particularly physical defender, and he's very disciplined on offense, so it makes sense that during the regular season he only average 2 personal fouls per game.

In the finals, that number has shot up to 3.75. He spent good portions of Games 2 and 3 on the bench in foul trouble. This doesn't make any sense. While he has spent some time guarding LeBron, Durant has guarded physical players before and his numbers don't change so dramatically.

This isn't a trend either. He averaged 2.08 fouls per game in the three preceding rounds of the playoffs. He has never averaged more than 2.09 fouls per game over the course of a season and had reached five fouls only twice in his last 23 games before having it happen in back-to-back finals games.

You can't even argue that defending LeBron James is causing these extra fouls. In nine head to head match ups before these finals, Durant actually only averaged 1.8 fouls per game, less than his career average of 1.89.

In other words, there is no statistical reason that Kevin Durant is getting called for so many fouls. It's a complete statistical anomaly.

Russell Westbrook is getting similarly odd treatment on the other end. So far in the series, he is averaging 5.25 free throw attempts per game, less than his season average of 6.3.

That in itself is not a massive disparity, but consider his total shot attempts. In the regular season, he averaged 19.2 field goal attempts per game, but in the finals that number has jumped to 25.

His total shot attempts have jumped by almost 25 percent, but his free throw attempts have dropped by nearly 17 percent. Doesn't that seem odd?

Let's examine Westbrook's excellent Game 4 performance. Despite taking 32 shots from the field, Westbrook only shot a grand total of three free throws. Westbrook wasn't just shooting jumpers; according to his shot chart, 15 of his 32 attempts were within 10 feet of the basket. He was driving to the hoop at a pretty normal rate.

The only similar performance that I can think of to judge this againstóin terms of shot attemptsóis Dwyane Wade in the 2006 Finals. Wade took no less than 19 shots in each game, yet despite never topping Westbrook's 32, he never shot less than 10 free throws in any single game. In Game 5, he took 28 field goals and 25 free throws.

For the series, Wade averaged 23.6 field goal attempts per game and 16.2 free throw attempts per game. Neither are close to Westbrook's 32 and three. Considering the similarity between the two players, it seems odd that Wade wouldn't have one game in that series similar to Westbrook's Game 4.

One argument people have made as to why the Thunder aren't drawing as many fouls is that the Heat are a very disciplined defensive team. That is just not true. They were seventh in the league this season in personal fouls. This implies that the Thunder should be shooting more free throws than they normally do during this series.

There are some smaller oddities in the officiating we need to look at as well. Both LeBron and Wade are averaging at least a full free throw per game more in the finals than they did in the regular season (LeBron is up from 8.1 to 9.75; Wade is up from 6.1 to 7.75). If Wade is injured, as many fans claim, then his free throw attempts should be down, as he would be driving less.

This is the case for Shane Battier, who is up from .6 attempts per game to 1.75. The only Heat regular to see a significant drop in their free throw attempts is Chris Bosh, but that can be explained by his overall drop in shot attempts due to recovery from injury.

The Thunder are not blameless for being behind in this series. They've blown three winnable games by turning the ball over and making bad decisions.

However, stats don't lie. Whether you think the league is actually trying to affect the outcome of the series or you simply believe the refs are doing a horrible job is up to you, but what the numbers show is that this series has not been officiated equally. The Heat have taken advantage of that fact, and considering how close these games have been, it may have changed the outcome of the series.

Enough with the conspiracy bullshit. The heat are a much more aggressive team and play better defense. Of course they are going to get more calls. Yes there have been some iffy calls, but that's life. They will always be there.
