FYI...US Olympic track and field finals tonight on NBC

6pm CT. Didn't see a recent Olympics thread.

I'm counting on the Olympics to get me thru until football.

It's convoluted. The committee is leaving it up to the women. They'll either flip or do a run off. Goes something like this.

If neither has a preference they will flip.
If they both vote the same way, they'll do that.
If they vote opposite ways they'll run it off.

As of this morning I don't think they've voted.

They've run faster than that.

Galen Rupp (the top American) ran 26:48 last year. I think the 27:25 was just Rupp's US Olympic Trials record. He ran it in driving rain and was helping one of his friends make the sub 27:45 A standard qualifying mark. He should run faster in London (unless it's a tactical race) when he tries to be the rare American distance runner to sneak on the medal podium.

The world record is actually 26:17 and was set by Kenenisa Bekele of Ethiopia in 2005. That's about 4:13 per mile pace.
