Gun Control

We have all heard about what happened in Aurora, Co, and I think that Gun Control is going to be a huge topic in the following months.

What measures need to be taken? Do you have any ideas that will help prevent this kind of thing from happening again as it pertains to guns?

Nope nothing can. Not arguing that, not even remotely. And in case you missed this post

I see a lot more harm than good coming from allowing concealed & carry for everyone. I think that there could be some give and take on both sides of the argument.

I just fervently disagree that if everyone had a gun it would stop this kind of shit that happened today, or Aurora.

Do you know where he got the guns from? Yeah he couldn't buy them, what if they were his dads? What if they were a friends?

Do you know for sure that he bought them black market style, or did he just take them from a source that he knew had them.

The thing we have to decide in general, as Americans is...

Do we want to let a few dumb asses and crazy (psychotic people) infringe the freedom of the vast, vast majority of the rest of us law abiding citizens.

Example 1) How many people die from drunk drivers every year, despite harsh laws and strict controls in place? Answer: A whole hell of a lot MORE than from gun murders...yet there is no call to BAN ALCOHOL (they tried that already) any more is there? Why? People realize that there is no way to stop a random dumb ass/crazy nut job from getting wasted and getting behind the wheel...and banning alcohol would harm EVERYONE's freedoms too much to be worth it. SO every dead person from a drunk driver is the price we pay for that freedom.

Example 2) It is the same idea with guns. We shouldnt ban weapons for everyone, as this actually takes WAY WAY more freedoms away than not being able to get drunk . Taking away weapons takes the ability of the citizen to defend themselves from tyranny and protect their home and family.

Yes, these incidents are awful, but take a look...WAY more people die from idiots in cars...

Freedom is not free. I'm sorry to sound cold, but the price to be paid for living in the most amazing free badass country in the world is that occasionally people will abuse their freedoms and even more occasionally a psycho may go on a rampage with a gun or a car or whatever...

I personally feel like this is the price if we wish to live in freedom. Its almost a terrorist act, in my mind..something like this.

To allow these type of crazy people to affect the rest of us, in perhaps banning weapons would not be a good way to handle this tragedy IMO.

I don't see anybody suggesting that we start handing out guns to everyone. You're starting to hyperbolically argue stuff that nobody is suggesting. Conceal and carry is not for everyone. Nobody is saying it is. It's not an easy process to get a CCW permit. They make you prove yourself in multiple ways, both legally by checking your records, and physically by requiring a shooting demonstration. There has already been a lot of give and take on both sides of that issue which you're evidently not aware of.

If we are going to implement gun control to avoid murders can I quit paying my taxes to avoid drone killings?
