We have all heard about what happened in Aurora, Co, and I think that Gun Control is going to be a huge topic in the following months.


What measures need to be taken? Do you have any ideas that will help prevent this kind of thing from happening again as it pertains to guns?

Forget guns, I think the change that needs to happen is how we deal with the mentally ill in this country.

Very true. There are a combination of things at play here. All of them need to be scrutinized. The media, the mentally ill, the pharmaceutical industry, violent video games, access to assault weapons...

I read that USA Criminals stake out a house twice as long as they do in the UK because they fear getting shot.

Burglars come into UK homes regardless of if people are there or not.

I think nationalized healthcare is just stupid. What you are saying is Fat Tommy who has a low paying job, drinks like a fish, smokes 2 packs a day, and weighs 300 lbs is my fiscal responsibility because he is too lazy and stupid to be his own. Absolutely ridiculous.

How about we actual make human beings responsible for their actions, including the way they medicate and raise their children instead?

DURBIN: Chris, there’s plenty of blame on both sides, politically and there is also a responsibility of the people across this nation. I would appeal to the hunters and sportsmen, I know them from Illinois. They are my friends. They are good people. They love their families and hate what they are hearing about Newtown, Connecticut.

But, they have been largely quiet. This conversation has been dominated in Washington by you know and I know, gun lobbies that have an agenda. We need people, just ordinary Americans, to come together, and speak out, and to sit down and calmly reflect on how far we go.

The Supreme Court raised questions about the Second Amendment, what are the protections? What are the responsibilities? Let’s spell this out and let’s try to do it in a thoughtful way and move forward together. That’s what we need.

How do the poor get better mental healthcare, which is where many pro-gun people are now pointing their fingers?

Yeah, be responsible for your own actions, swell idea. Psychoboy now has to own up for shooting up a classroom.

And the beauty in this is that psychoboy was rich and had access to healthcare and it changed nothing. So I guess the answer is to lock him up before he's committed a crime.

How about a system that just pays for the health care of children, or, back on topic, the mental health care of children, that a lot of insurance companies don't cover. Would you be willing to pay a little more in taxes to make sure kids are taken care of?

If psycho boy were raised by responsible human beings who demanded treatment that actually works with minimal drug intervention, we would probably be having a different conversation today.

I have no problem with nationalized healthcare, providing ANYONE who doesn't pay the median standard of costs be legally subjected to living a healthy lifestyle - we both know that will never happen. So what you are telling me to do is to pay for every lazy assed and stupid human being in the country. I love how liberals can spend my money like there is no tomorrow.

I am pro-nationalized healthcare as well. I'm all for free healthcare for children. The thing is, children grow into adults.

Having spent 3 weeks in Ireland and the UK this year I can't tell you the number of stabbings I heard about. BTW you have to be of age to even buy kitchen knives. I can't remember if it's 18 or 21.

On another note the friend we stayed with is a single mother. She had some wack job trying to break in to her house while she and her young daughter were home. By law they are required to retreat. She armed her self with a knife and sent her daughter to a closet to hide, and called the cops.

I can't fathom having to retreat in your own home.
