Gun Control

We have all heard about what happened in Aurora, Co, and I think that Gun Control is going to be a huge topic in the following months.

What measures need to be taken? Do you have any ideas that will help prevent this kind of thing from happening again as it pertains to guns?

You sound like my cousin. He was a coal miner, so obviously he's big-time pro union, and therefore votes Democratic. But beyond that he's as God-fearing, gun-totin' redneck as they come.

Both parties have good and bad aspects. It's a shit system, but sometimes you've just got to pick the one issue that's most important to you, then hold your nose and jump in with the side that supports it, for better or worse. I'm sure he doesn't like being lumped in with the gun-haters and the welfare scum any more than I like being lumped in with the bible thumpers.

Sadly, it is what it is. Too bad we can't get a functional party of sane people, but I think things are set up the way they are to specifically stop that from happening.

Yep its the religious nutjobs and anti-union issues that keep me voting democratic. Thats why I don't really think you will see any drastic legislation against guns because of voters like myself could possibly flip if they go overboard with this.

Looks like Obama is going to make a gun control statement this morning at 10:45AM CST. I know you guys are going to be all excited for that.

President Obama is scheduled to make a statement on the administration's path forward on gun control at 11:45 a.m. ET Wednesday in the White House briefing room. Vice President Joe Biden will also attend, according to the White House. Obama is expected to tap Biden to oversee the administration's gun-control efforts in the wake of the Newtown, Conn. shooting.

Maybe they could divert some of the weapons meant for Mexican gang members to school guards. That would be a good start!

and you think access is the issue? Most recent incident in CT, the shooter did not purchase the firearms, he swiped them from someone who got them legally. (his mother)
