Gun Control

We have all heard about what happened in Aurora, Co, and I think that Gun Control is going to be a huge topic in the following months.

What measures need to be taken? Do you have any ideas that will help prevent this kind of thing from happening again as it pertains to guns?

People need to understand that gun restriction legislation will only prevent LAW ABIDING CITIZENS (like you and me) from purchasing these weapons.

Criminals will still get guns....as they almost always do, and they will continue to unlawfully use them...that's what makes them criminals.

In most of these cases...when these criminals are confronted with someone w/ another weapon they scatter off because they're scared or they off themselves because they're cowards and it's taking the easy way out.

Taskforce with Biden leading it and will have their ideas turned in by the end of January.

I do agree with his quote below that they have an obligation to try.

Quote:
President Obama announced a new gun violence taskforce on Wednesday in the wake of the Newtown, Conn. elementary school shooting, saying the country had a moral obligation to take action.

“If there is even one thing we can do to prevent any of these events, we have a deep obligation – all of us – to try," Obama said at the White House.

"This time the words need to lead to action," Obama added.
Quote:
Announcing a new task force on gun violence, President Obama said at the White House Wednesday that he wants proposals to reduce gun violence "no later than January." Obama tapped Vice President Joe Biden to lead the task force.

"This is not some Washington commission," Obama said of the task force, emphasizing his desire for quick action. "This is a team that has a very specific task, to pull together real reforms right now."

Bob Dole finds it interesting how different people react.

Personally, incidents like those of last week just make Bob Dole more diligent about making sure he has ready access to a means of protecting himself, because there is little chance someone else will do it. A harsh reminder why Bob Dole went to the trouble to get a concealed carry permit in the first place.

They do. I don't know what it would be, really. But they can't say, "Oh well." It could just be tougher enforcement of the laws on the books, better record keeping or screening. I don't know. I don't mind them showing some effort at trying to remedy the problem.

Sixty-two percent of Americans support a ban on semi-automatic assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition clips, while 37 percent remain opposed, according to a new CNN poll released Thursday. The poll was conducted via telephone December 17-18, with the overall sampling error plus or minus four percentage points.

So.

We don't go by what the majority wants when it comes to a fundamental, protected natural right.

In one of the latest handgun decisions the SC said there could be reasonable limits placed on guns by the government. There is exceptions for almost every amendment.

And we have them. Your point doesn't make much sense.
