Gun Control

We have all heard about what happened in Aurora, Co, and I think that Gun Control is going to be a huge topic in the following months.

What measures need to be taken? Do you have any ideas that will help prevent this kind of thing from happening again as it pertains to guns?

I see that now. But no, I am fine on what we have. Just feel we need some technology to prevent others from getting the guns of others.

Somehow I think that's BS but who is to call a CNN poll to the carpet?

I just realized one reason, a big one, lefties hate guns. They're used, often, to defend property. They hate private property.

Indeed:

When I was in the gun store the other day picking up an extra AK, there was one hell of a mix of people in there. Ranchers standing next to investment bankers and stock brokers waiting to pick one up. I talked to a few of the suit types and they knew zero about AK's, but figured if they were ever going to get one, now is the time. It was nice seeing guys you would normally never see in a gun store dropping $750-$2300 on a gun.

I dropped $799 on a Windham AR. Yes, it is my first AR. The MSRP on it is $1040 so I feel somewhat comforted that I got it before Cabela's started jacking up prices like everyone else is.

Yes, I found that out after the fact which made me feel better about it. I went in looking for a Sig MP400 but those were gone. Then I was looking at a DMPS and the guy said "this is what you want" and handed me the Windham.

Consider the rhetoric of University of Rhode Island professor Erik Loomis. He teaches “U.S. environmental history, the Civil War, late 19th and early 20th century America, labor history, and the American West” in the university’s history department. Online, however, Loomis is a militantly unhinged foe of all things conservative.

This week, the nutty professor took to Twitter to rail against law-abiding gun owners and the National Rifle Association. “Looks like the National Rifle Association has murdered some more children,” Loomis fumed. “Now I want Wayne LaPierre’s head on a stick,” he added. (LaPierre is executive vice president and CEO of the NRA.) Loomis was just warming up.

F*** the National Rifle Association and its policies to put crazy guns in everyone’s hands,” Loomis tweeted. “You are g**d*mn right we should politicize this tragedy. F*** the NRA. Wayne LaPierre should be in prison,” he spewed. “Can we define NRA membership dues as contributing to a terrorist organization?

If all that wasn’t clear enough, Loomis also re-tweeted the following message from a fellow left-winger: “First f**ker to say the solution is for elementary school teachers to carry guns needs to get beaten to death.”

here's a thoughtful approach;
commit a crime with an illegal handgun; mandatory huge sentence (not sure what that would be; but the prison industry and politicians will love that $).

the problem, IMO, is the illegal guns. the chances of a legal gun owner going out and shooting everyone, is so slim it's like getting struck by lightning.

I think I read (...not sure on validity), more kids died in football than by gunshot.

Criminal control at work:

Quote:
A friend of LRC reader Randy Peoples asked that question along with the following private gun ownership confrontations with armed criminals:

• A 1997 high school shooting in Pearl, Miss., was halted by the school's vice principal after he retrieved the Colt .45 he kept in his truck.
• A 1998 middle school shooting ended when a man living next door heard gunfire and apprehended the shooter with his shotgun.
• A 2002 terrorist attack at an Israeli school was quickly stopped by an armed teacher and a school guard.
• A 2002 law school shooting in Grundy, Va., came to an abrupt conclusion when students carrying firearms confronted the shooter.
• A 2007 mall shooting in Ogden, Utah, ended when an armed off-duty police officer intervened.
• A 2009 workplace shooting in Houston, Texas, was halted by two coworkers who carried concealed handguns.
• A 2012 church shooting in Aurora, Colo., was stopped by a member of the congregation carrying a gun.
• At the recent mall shooting in Portland, Ore., the gunman took his own life minutes after being confronted by a shopper carrying a concealed weapon.

Why haven't most of you heard of these?

The answer is simple: Mainstream media and radicals like Bloomberg don't dare make heroes of armed citizens because it CRUSHES every weak, pathetic argument they raise.
