Gun Control

We have all heard about what happened in Aurora, Co, and I think that Gun Control is going to be a huge topic in the following months.

What measures need to be taken? Do you have any ideas that will help prevent this kind of thing from happening again as it pertains to guns?

Agreed. You forfeit the right to keep and bear arms the moment you hit a woman or child or ANY defenseless person.

Your position would be perfectly reasonable to me if in fact "domestic assault" required hitting anyone. But it most certainly does not. It requires an "offensive touching" or "causing immediate apprehension of physical harm" in most jurisdictions.

Testimony like "I thought that he was going to hit me", or "he grabbed my wrist when I started to leave", would be sufficient in many courtrooms to convict. Those same courtrooms usually have a financial incentive to convict people under the terms of their federal grants.

Oh...and domestic assault generally applies to significantly more people than spouses/bf/gf/children. It usually includes ANYONE related OR living in the same domicile. So try not to offend your roommate.

These are all legal on the federal level, but carry heavy restrictions. They are an example of how strong regulation actually works in the real world.

I am fully behind gun ownership unless you have been convicted of a violent crime..
How can people argue with tbis?
People with a history of violence should not have guns....period.
