Why people laugh at Creationists

Taking a lead from Killer Clown I thought I'd create a alternative thread to post some videos I like...

[EDIT New video here]

So on with the show:

Here's the Kent Hovind Theory:

"Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it.
Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumored by many.
Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in your religious books.
Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders.
Do not believe in traditions simply because they have been handed down for many generations.
But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it."

Atheist 2: I don't think I believe it.

Atheist 1: Really? Well there's actually proof for it. You know when you're tuning your radio and there's static when you tune in between channels? Well that static is actually caused in part by the background radiation left over from the Big Bang. We can actually measure it. Here's how they do it.. On top of that, we can monitor the fluctuations in it over time.

Atheist 2: Hmmm.

Atheist 1: Seriously. And also astronomers can calculate the redshift of distant celestial bodies in all directions, and see evidence of homogeneity which also supports the Big Bang Theory. Here check out this data and the map that was created with the help of the Hubble telescope, and see for yourself.

Atheist 2: Interesting.

Atheist 1: Then there's the primordial nucleosynthesis that we can physically detect in the universe.

Atheist 2: What's that?

Atheist 1: Well, that would be helium, deuterium, lithium, and beryllium. These can only be produced when the universe was in a state of high temperature and density so great that protons and neutrons existed as free particles, not bound by a nucleus. This could only happen during the first few minutes of the Big Bang. Yet we can detect these things still today.

Atheist 2: This is actually pretty fascinating.

Atheist 1: No shit! And that's not all. There's also the Sunyaev-Zel'dovich effect, the Integrated Sachs-Wolfe effect, the Tolman experiment, and the existence and detection of dark matter and energy. All these are different independent methods of observing and explaining the Big Bang.

Atheist 2: Well I have to admit, that is some pretty convincing evidence. Perhaps I'll look into this topic for myself, and consider the validity of this. You've intrigued me to reevaluate my position on this matter. And for that I thank you.
and the happy ending

Atheist 2: Well I looked into it and I have to say it's utter rubbish but thanks for wasting my time.

Yes, it certainly does. But the interesting question is why doesn't that cause you to apply any skepticism to your belief? If it all comes down to each person's interpretation, then what confidence do you have that your particular one is correct and that guy over there is wrong? Doesn't that at least give you the impression that possibly something you currently believe could be incorrect?

sorry for the cut and paste here but I see it pretty much as the Bible describes it. It isn't the place anyone would choose, but many do.
Description of Hell

Article by Kathy A. Smith

A place of weeping and gnashing of teeth - "And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth" Matthew 25:30.

A place of outer darkness - "Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth" Matthew 22:13.

A place of torments - "And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom" Luke 16:23.

A place of Sorrows - "The sorrows of hell compassed me about; the snares of death prevented me;" (2 Samuel 22:6).

A place of everlasting destruction - "Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;" II Thessalonians 1:9).

A place where men are tormented with fire and brimstone - "But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death" Revelation 21:8.

A place where fire is not quenched - "Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched" Mark 9:44.

A bottomless pit - "And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit" Revelation 9:2.

A place of no rest - "And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name" (Revelation 14:11).

It is ultimately a lake of fire - "And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death" Revelation 20:14.

A place of hopeless of unsatisfied desires - "And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame " Luke 16:24). The rich man wanted water but could not get any.

I have skepticism about every belief. I grew up baptist. Believed in evolution for numerous years. And now believe what I believe is the truth. I am not pushing my beliefs on anyone in this thread.

What made you cease your belief in evolution?

Which really brings up another point, as to which bible translation is most correct.

Personal belief really. I realized I was accepting it because its what I was being tought to believe. And I simply started researching, in both categories. And the simple questions I have repeated numerous times always made me believe there is more to life than the Big Bang and evolution.

How do you justify the fact that with religion, you are also accepting what you were being taught to believe? Why don't you think that applies to religion?

I agree that there's more to life than the Big Bang and evolution. But that doesn't mean that neither is factual. That doesn't even mean you can't believe in the Big Bang, evolution, and religion all at the same time.

Because I have done the personal research at that point on religion and certain aspects of it(as I did evolution). It didn't consist of me sitting in a church and listening to a preacher.

And I agree with your last statement, I applaud anything anyone believes. I applaud anyone for trying to find answers that fit them.

Spirituality, The Holy Spirit talks to all of us. Some just aren't very good listeners.

Really? You applaud anything anyone believes?

Finding answers that fit them? And if 1+1=3 fits for some? Yea! That's just wonderful!

What an empty load of shit.
