Why people laugh at Creationists

Taking a lead from Killer Clown I thought I'd create a alternative thread to post some videos I like...

[EDIT New video here]

So on with the show:

Here's the Kent Hovind Theory:

"Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it.
Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumored by many.
Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in your religious books.
Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders.
Do not believe in traditions simply because they have been handed down for many generations.
But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it."

Evolution and Creationism aren't necessarily opposed to each other in a general sense. But that's because evolution doesn't address the origin of life. Evolution is strictly concerned with existing species and how they change and evolve over time. It's not meant to answer creation.

True statement.

That said, the origin of life theories are fascinating. Fairly hard to conceptualize, but fascinating nonetheless.

You're hard to talk to. You deviate so wildly from topic. I post evidence of multiple discovery, and you refer us to yet another blog or video. It's nuts. Not sure I can do it.

No, not to anyone but you. You're going to have to start with some premise or established truth we can all agree on, then build your argument step by step with evidence to build your case. You might also want to define what you mean by universal mind.

We know you have a book that answers all of your questions. I have no idea which one of the too many to count versions you have or how you interpret the countless interpretations in it long before you found it. I also have no idea how much of it you take literally and how much you dismiss or write off as metaphor. I also have no idea if you have noticed the numerous revisions added by nameless authors. I am however happy that you have discovered the real truth and I am glad you did not fall prey to the well over 33 thousand variations of your belief. I am also pleased you are entertained by the millions of people who wonder if you might be full of shit~

All joking aside I sincerely am happy for anyone who has found happiness in their lives. That said if they wish to enter a discussion I will pull no punches if I disagree with them on a subject I have a reasonable amount of knowledge of. In short I am happy for you and do think you are full of shit on this subject~

Would you agree or disagree with the notion that for most people history only really becomes relevant with the Bomb and life saving advances in medical sciences ? Or even worse the 60's ? I guess what I am asking is when does history and more importantly written history become relevant to addressing the origin of life ? And again to clarify my point , it seems ancient writing is not considered real history . I am taking that notion to task on the grounds that if an ancient culture can build the structures on the Giza Platue and a bunch of other stuff that although hard to grasp what is presented as historical accounts in ancient writings is more relevent to the answers to lifes mysteries than many of us care to admit.

If I have to pick a single Truth we can agree on , how about the notion that the Giza complex is a testiment to an ancient technologically advanced people ? I dont expect anyone to agree , but if we are going to talk about where we come from , I think it matters.
Ok, so your premise is that since ancient civilizations were able to build complicated structures that they were in some sense technologically advanced.

I think this is where practical knowledge and knowledge science can exist in parallel. The builders of Giza did not understand Newton's first law (F=ma), nor did they need to in order to accomplish their feat. They had tremendous empirical and practical knowledge, but lacked real understand of physics. Just as a modern day bricklayer today may have tremendous skill that requires an empirical mastery of physics, if you ask him about any of Newton's laws, you will be met with a blank stare. So from your example I would say that the ancients had the understanding of physics that is possesed by a modern day bricklayer (maybe a little more since they used the stars to orient their projects). I see no evidence to consider them to be an authority on physics, let alone biology.

Fair, but they have components of living things, for example DNA, a protein coat, and the ability to replicate using transcription and translation, much like our own cells. Now, I'm not saying we came from viruses, but they do present a bridge from non-living to living, as they exhibit traits of both. Though they would need some major modifications in order to be considered living (membrane-bound, for example), isn't it strange that these seemingly non-living entities have so much overlap with cells we would consider living?

Transcription and translation are major fundamental processes of our own cell division, and yet these little nonliving things have captured the ability to do it.

Now, take into account that our own cell membrane components, given the right conditions, can assemble on their own. Doesn't that make you somewhat curious about the potential for natural creation on a molecular level? The components are surely there.
