Why people laugh at Creationists

Taking a lead from Killer Clown I thought I'd create a alternative thread to post some videos I like...

[EDIT New video here]

So on with the show:

Here's the Kent Hovind Theory:

"Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it.
Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumored by many.
Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in your religious books.
Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders.
Do not believe in traditions simply because they have been handed down for many generations.
But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it."

. The ignorance of anyone who believes in a fiery hell is abundant.

It's simple. If God hates Satan, why would he give him the satisfaction of torturing people who sin. What logic makes that believable?

It's funny how you guys mock me, yet your using resources from wikipedia, and don't even know what the Bible says, just like the rest of Americans. This isn't even worth my time.
That's hilarious. You're going to bag on wikipedia when it's quoting from the Bible? The Bible huh...nice source lol.

The quotes are from a translation of the bible that could be very old. Hence why Wikipedia is a unreliable source. Certain translation have changed words without sticking to the exact definition of the original text. Another reason religion is mocked so much, which, IMO, is understandable.

The simplicity of it is the original translations should say Sheol and Hades, possibly Gehenna.

Hell (“Sheol” and “Hades” in the Bible’s original languages) is simply the grave, not a place of fiery torment. Who go to hell? Both good people and bad people. (Job 14:13; Psalm 9:17) The Bible says that this common grave of mankind is “the house of meeting for everyone living.”—Job 30:23.

The latest salvo fired by creationists against education:

http://www.kansascity.com/2014/02/06...t-parents.html

Quote:
Missouri bill would let parents pull kids from evolution classes

February 6
By ALLISON PRANG
Special to The Star

Parents would have to be notified of upcoming evolution coursework in their children’s science classes and given the option to pull them out under a bill pending in the Missouri General Assembly.

Rep. Rick Brattin, a Harrisonville Republican, said forcing students to study the natural selection theories developed by Charles Darwin a century and a half ago can violate their religious faith.

“It’s an absolute infringement on people’s beliefs,” Brattin said.

Critics of the bill say it would allow religious faith in biblical explanations to crowd out sound science.

But Brattin told of emails sent to him about kids ridiculed at school for not believing the material being taught.

“Even though what’s being taught is just as much faith and, you know, just as much pulled out of the air as, say, any religion,” he said.

Brattin said he believes in microevolution — the idea that organisms evolve to adapt to their environments. But he doesn’t buy the mainstream scientific theory of macroevolution, which traces the evolution of distinctly new species.

The perennial debate over evolution received fresh attention this week in a debate at the Creation Museum in Petersburg, Ky., between Bill Nye, known for popularizing science education, and Ken Ham, the museum’s founder.

David Evans, the executive director for the National Science Teachers Association, said discussion of evolution by natural selection is critical to science education.
Rep. Brattin believes in "micro" evolution, but not "macro" evolution. I can't help but wonder what scientific credentials he brings to the table that make him qualified to dictate what should be taught in science class.

Wait, what? No scientific credentials?

Wikipedia has been around for 13 years now and people still use the "WIKIPEDIA IS UNRELIABLE!!" argument? Really? Do people not realize that stuff has to be sourced on the articles in order to stay on there?

What's your source for your point about wikipedia, king? Oh, that's right, wikipedia.

Your argument is invalid.

You do realize you are not helping your cause don't you? Track the translation of the word virgin. I am uncertain of your qualifications and you indeed may very well be fluent in Greek and Hebrew. The contradictions and different interpretations are among the bigger flaws of the claims made from the bible. So we agree on the view that many are confused about these writings. I also tend to believe so are you~
