OK, you caught me. I'm actually not confused by Christianity itself... and because the entire premise of religion is ridiculous, I ridicule it. Although, it is interesting to me from a philosophical perspective, and important because its a dangerous philosophy. When mommy & daddy tell you that Santa brings presents and there are invisible people flying around on bird wings - you believe them. When you get older, they tell you that Santa is no longer real, but the invisible people still are. Many of us eventually figure out that flying bird-people are not real either, but admitting it would be frowned upon by friends, family & society.

Non-believers, UNITE!! Its OK to admit that you know its not so! Free yourselves from the dogma of the ancient goat-herders! Say it loud - Cavemen did not ride around on dinosaurs! Earth is not only 6,000 years old! Women are not made from other people's rib-bones! Snakes do not talk! MLK said, "The Arc of the Moral Universe Is Long, but It Bends Toward Justice." I say, the arc of scientific understanding is long, but it bends towards the dissolution of religious dogma. Its a natural facet of the evolution of man.

I actually do have some serious questions about religion, but my abject disrespect understandably offends Believers to the point where they don't care to engage. Stuff like, can people really make themselves believe something? Say you want to live for eternity... can you really just choose to believe it is so? Seems to me that you either believe something, or you do not - regardless of how you want things to be. I could choose to believe that there is no coffee table in front of the sofa, but I sure as heck am going to trip over it when I get up.

And what is "faith?" The dictionary sez "belief that is not based on proof." Can people really decide what to have faith in? Will I still bang my shin if I decide to "have faith" that the coffee table is not there? That is something that I am confused about - my brain is seriously lacking an understanding of the concept of "faith." Don't make no sense to me at all. Somebody saying that they "have faith" that invisible red people with horns are whispering in their ear to do naughty things. Don't make no sense....

same ol same ol..i'd say when you are serious, let me know...but we both know the chances of that are slim to none.

btw, the devil isn't a red creature with horns, in fact, he's the opposite. green is the color of satan, and he's super smooth....when you see him, his words will be like butter, and you're mocking of faith will be moot, and you will fall for it like a kid in a candy store.

That's actually an interesting question. Is faith a choice or a "feeling"? I say "feeling" for lack of a better term because that doesn't really communicate it well. In my life it has been more of a feeling, I guess. And then the choice (for me) comes in when you decide what to do about that "feeling."
