Clinton: Wow

Amazing speech. Party wonks & haters can't deny the man's genius. Clinton might be the one man GOPs fear more than Grover Norquist when it comes to elections.

I didn't vote for the guy in 1992 or 1996 but there's no denying that he left the country in far better shape than when he took over.

Yea, the only problem with that is the GOP and Rubin, Summers, and Reich ran that through. Clinton listened to the wrong people on that and bears responsibilty on that, but it's clear closet case is referring to the tech bubble.

I think it's pretty difficult when the Republicans have outright refused to work with him. Furthermore, the R's have become so incredibly conservative that I don't even recognize them any longer.

Anyone who thinks that the current party is the party of Reagan is only fooling themselves.

Corrupt? I would argue Karl Rove having to make 5 trips to the grand jury to tell the truth, the obsession with torture, secret energy policy meetings that preceeded 4 dollar gas and Scooter's prison sentence, not to mention the attack on privacy rights. Literate? Have we forgotten Bush's infamous proclamation that man and fish can coexist? Inaction? How about failing to read memo's, the tragic attack on our homeland and Katrina? Somehow you have to factor in 7.5 Trillion in new debt, bank failures, 12 million illegal aliens, invisible WMD's, North Korea's explosion of the bomb, and dramatic loss in international standing of American students.

Almost forgot to address the tech bubble. The tech bubble was a result of cheap money, Wall st greed and incompetence, and people being ****ing dumb and paying outrageous valuations for supposed growth.

Really? How so?

When the Republican Party is ousting members for working with the Democrats and demonizing candidates for being "Moderate", I don't know how you can make that claim with a straight face.

Are you aware that Obama and Boehner were in agreement on moving forward with a debt reduction plan, and Obama suddenly added more tax increases at the end, which scuttled the deal?

Please be serious. Running "through Hillary" and running himself are two vastly, vastly different things.

I'm saying he just throws his hat in the ring in 2012. Has to run against Obama for the nomination, then against Romney in the general. The Democratic machine is geared towards Obama as the incumbent, of course, so maybe that isn't really winnable.

Uhh...no. No it just didn't. Not even remotely. You're comparing an anthill to Mount freaking Everest.

I think you are looking at this from a only a single point of view and should accept the fact that there was a lot more to this lack of bipartisanship than any of us really know.

Just check out this write-up of a Bob Woodward book coming out. Lots in there about the debt deal breakdown and how Obama and his WH decided at the start of their admin to blow off republican inputs to stimulus and other items.

"His administration's early decision to forego bipartisanship for the sake of speed around the stimulus bill was encapsulated by his then-chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel: "We have the votes. F--- 'em," he's quoted in the book as saying."
