Go on record: how would you interpret an Obama victory in Nov? A Romney victory?

Obviously everybody is going to have their spin ready the day after the election. One side will say their side is vindicated, the other will say the other side won due to dirty electoral tricks, or whatever.

Just predict that in November, Obama wins a sizeable amount of the popular vote, something that in these days would be like 52%.

How do you believe you should interpret that the day after the election?

Now imagine the opposite happening. Romney wins with a solid 52%, in other words there was no question of his winning. How do you believe you should interpret that the day after the election?

I expect Obama to win with the advantage of being incumbent. The real election question for me is the Senate and how all that rolls out.

It will be close. Obama has failed to maintain the passion of a lot of his core. And with low turnout, he may end up not being reelected. The R's seem more motivated.

I interpret an Obama win as that a majority of Americans are a bunch of dumbasses that are unable or unwilling to learn from their mistakes.

I don't know if Romney will be a lot better, but it would be hard to do much worse.

Obama victory: A lot of irrational hope. A victory for class warfare. No mandate for anything in particular except possibly a counterproductive increase of taxes on capital and high income earners.

Romney victory: The voters finally get serious and hand Mitt Romney a mandate to repeal and replace Obamacare and to reform our runaway entitlements.

I would interpret either as a middle finger towards liberty and further moving down the rabbit hole.

Obama victory: Repubs nominated the worst candidate to take him on.

Romney: Obama is so bad that this country wants anyone but Obama.

Probably be a low voter turnout election. Romney has failed to excite a lot of conservatives.
Im not sure of the exact numbers, but I think its something like only 30-40% of eligible aged people actually vote in a POTUS election.

Interesting Question!

If Romney wins I would not see it as a mandate. I would see it as a very nervous and indecisve vote, a vote hoping that whatever he does will not materially affect a person's life. In other words, it's not a hope vote its a vote to temper the problem of obstruction and accept the crap in order to inch forward. I would see the election as raising 2 issues of disgust, the obvious problem of Citizens United and the shameful voter suppression initiatives that may have tilted the will of the people. Both are disturbing.

If Obama wins the voters get a surprise. Obstructionism ends in January. There is zero benefit in continuing with such a strategy for the GOP. This was a one time poltical tactic. The GOP cannot go into the mid terms having accomplished nothing in four long years. Obama's election also highlights the fact that the incredible Bush failures are permanently etched in the soul of Americans. There is nobody under 45 that even remembers Reagan. The GOP will have to moderate and if they do not they will never again return to power. If Obama hangs onto the senate you may see McConnell leave the leadership. He will be seen as poison to the party. After 2012 the GOP will have to defend the most seats in the next two elections. I cannot imagine the republican will try to redefine rape while running against Hillary.

The bottom line? The jaws of Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security are nipping at the butts of Romney and Ryan. They shouldn't have ticked off women, the elderly, the veterans, the hispanics, GOP contenders, right wing hate radio, and 47 million Americans strugging to put food on the table. It doesn't help to tell 80 year olds they have to figure out a voucher either.

I'm under 45 and I remember Reagan quite well, I'll take him now as prez even 6 feet under.

Cheney/Bush stated Deficits don't matter, Reagan was awesome but a little gimped after Bush scared him with the assassination attempt.
