Romney: 47% of Americans are victims

I guess this maybe the kill shot for his campaign. I know some of you believe you this and won't find a problem with what he said but as a person running for POTUS you probably shouldn't write off 1/2 the country especially in a disparaging way.

Quote:
A hidden camera video of Mitt Romney at a fundraiser shows him talking disparagingly of people who will vote for President Obama.

Said Romney: "There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what. All right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it. That that's an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what...These are people who pay no income tax."

He adds: "My job is is not to worry about those people. I'll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives."

From Nate Silver's site. Cause and effect?

Sept. 27: The Impact of the ‘47 Percent’ After a secretly recorded videotape was released on Sept. 17 showing Mitt Romney making unflattering comments about the “47 percent” of Americans who he said had become dependent on government benefits, I suggested on Twitter that the political impact of the comments could easily be overstated.

“Ninety percent of ‘game-changing’ gaffes are less important in retrospect than they seem in the moment,” I wrote.

But was this one of the exceptional cases? A week and a half has passed since Mr. Romney’s remarks became known to the public — meaning that there’s been enough time to evaluate their effect on the polls. There’s a case to be made that they did damage Mr. Romney’s standing some.
In the chart below, I’ve tracked the progress of the national popular vote in the FiveThirtyEight “now-cast” over the past five weeks.

The “now-cast” reflects our best estimate of what would happen in an election held today, based on a combination of recent national and state polls. Unlike our Nov. 6 forecast, the “now-cast” does not account for economic measures, and it does not adjust for the effect of the party conventions. This makes it a little bit more straightforward to interpret in terms of tracking the progress of the polls in real time.

The fact that Obama is leading this "race" just shows you how ****ed up and discombobulated the Republican Leadership truly is. Worse than ALL of that is the fact that Mitt, the Campaigning Boob that he truly is, would still be a much better POTUS than O'Deficit.

The fact that most Liberals can't see what an AWFUL POTUS O'Divider has been, makes me equally concerned for the direction this Country will take over the next 4 years. God help us all.
What I cannot understand, is why he isn't destroying Obama's character the way he did Gingrich. Obama is low hanging fruit, who gives a shit if he calls him racist, the blacks won't vote for him anyway. Further, I would have vote suppression in black districts in full effect. I would have him lauding the gay marriage thing In Philly churches every sunday until election time.

Then, in the west, you have ads running about how he failed to do ANYTHING on immigration, and the effects the economy is having on Mexicans. Suppress the vote in those constituences.

No, not Romney. The same guy who destroyed Gingrich with an all out assault, then Destroyed Santorum with similar frontal attacks, goes out with daily stump speeches of, "I know Obama is a nice guy... but it's o.k. to vote him out because he hasn't done the job. I will do the job". no specifics on what or how, just, Obama sucked, he's a nice guy, but it's o.k. if you change your mind and vote for me.

WEAK, when we need STRENGTH. Romney should have been all in from the get go. He claims the country is on the line, well, if it is, then how in the HECK is the guy who has put it on the line, a "nice guy"? Contradictory logic, weakens his argument.

Dear Romney, it is not our job to make Obama a bad guy, it is your job. You won't win this election unless you can disqualify him the way he is shamelessly disqualifying you. Your stooges should have seen this coming, and went after him with viciousness that you did Gingrich.

No personal offense, intended.
Dude, did or did not, the shit hit the fan under Bush, AFTER Reid and Pelosi took the lead in 2006?

I dont get your opposition to teachers. How is having a class size of 22 kids instead of 32 kids a bad thing?
It is harder to brain wash them in a class size of 32, of course.

I'm pretty sure it's FOXNews' fault for whining and whining about the poor guy making $250,000, when that guy would not even be affected by a marginal tax hike that kicks in at $250,000.
Do you think that includes me?

You think that only blacks are going to be offended by a racist campaign?

A political movement designed to keep others from voting but people who think like you, to lock out who oppose your views, wonder what type of political system that's called?

How does destroying Obama's character equate with "racist campaign". Some on the left would use that meme. I was merely suggesting that Romney should say, what the heck do I have to lose, the election?

He is going to lose it anyway, so, at least he would go down fighting.

To the second point, isn't that what the democrats do with the whole 47% thing? Or the war on women thing? come on dude. This is politics, you wage it to win it, or get the f out. You would have Republicans game plan the way Herm Edwards did.

Oh, and your damn right vote suppression is a valid tactic in this game, it has and will continue to be a tactic as long as there is politics.

Both sides use it.

Don't try to be a Pollyanna.

You don't think all these inflated polls are a "vote supression" tactic against the conservatives?
