I know football is the most popular sport in America and I know this is a football site. That said Chiefs fans who make fun of the Royals make me laugh... because the Chiefs are more of an embarrasment to the city than even our baseball team.

Yes the Chiefs were the last to win a playoff game. Woohoo. In my lifetime (43 years) the Royals have played in two World Series' and won one. The Chiefs................... yeah that.

The Royals aren't yet mathematically eliminated with less than 2 weeks to go in the season this year. Who thinks the Chiefs will be in that position this year?

Royals > Chiefs. Pretend that's not true.

That said the Royals have an embarrassing playoff drought, and the Chiefs play in the league that is actually supposed to have "competitive balance" and still manage to fail. One hasn't made the playoffs in 25+ years and the other has 3 playoff wins in the last 43 years. If either of these things inspires you to pick one team over the other, you probably need help.

I guarantee you Sporting KC has benefitted from a lost generation of Royals and Chiefs fans, and frustrated fans in general. Good for them for taking advantage.

It's never good to compare baseball and football. It never works. The Royals aren't better than the Chiefs. If you must compare the two, this years Royals are like last years Chiefs, playing their best late in the year, but it's most likely meaningless.

The biggest difference between the two sports is that it's easier to rebuild quickly in football, and it's why the Chiefs have good seasons mixed in the long stretches of sucky ones, but it's really fools gold most of the time. The Royals have been historically inept for more than 20 years, some of it out of their control, but most is all their fault. Sometimes I feel they get too much of a pass because of the small market thing, but other small market teams seem to make it work, so that can't be an excuse.

The bottom line is both teams have been poorly run, the Royals have been poorly run for longer.
