It's not the republicans you have to worry about, I wouldn't think. I presume they are voting for Romney regardless.

Remember Christine O'Donnell? Tea partier from Delaware? She surprised everyone by beating the traditional Republican in the Primary, and then someone unearthed a video of her on Bill Maher from years ago, where she was talking about how she dabbled in witchcraft as a teenager. The legend grew, and people - not her opponent, but sideline mumblers - started wondering if she really was a witch (the kiss of death, of course, to an American politician). She was still doing fairly well - especially considering she was a relatively inexperienced far-righter in a classically blue state - until she acknowledged it in her "I am not a witch" ad, which to this day she still recognizes was the mistake that cost her the election. Her support plummeted, and she lost horribly.

To acknowledge something like this is to give it credence it doesn't deserve, and it's a quick way to lose your race. The best thing is to ignore it and concentrate on issues which matter more. Politicians - including everyone in both Obama and Romney's camps - know that, which is why they try their best to pretend not to notice in the vain hopes that Trump will go away.

Right. And I agree this is a stupid stunt which makes Trump look more stupid than he really is.

It's nothing more than him trying to get some media attention. If he wanted to push this issue he should have made the offer when he was still a candidate.

Trump may be a lot of things, but ignorant in the ways of getting his name on the front page isn't one of them. As long as there's fuel, he'll keep providing the spark.
He is a worthless shitbag who knew better than to run for president. He acted as though he might but he has more skeletons in his closet than a graveyard. He has however offered a very reasonable request that offers a nice reward. The only reason it would not be jumped at is Barry's past is just as sketchy as Trump's~

There's always going to be something else that's a massive problem for the paranoid. Birth certificates, college records, that the POTUS is secretly hiding that he's a muslim, the hidden meaning of his middle name (that he didn't choose), that he's reallya communist/socialist/whatever.

From what I can gather, this race is close as hell now. I think this sort of shit hurts the republican party rather than helps it. My $0.02.
Actually, he did choose his name. At least, he chose to use it after making the choice to use other names at other points in his life.

I intuit that you more or less agree with the substance of the post then, if that's all you can find wrong with it.

Ok, in all seriousness, as STUPID as this is by Trump, WTF would Obama pass up what should be the easiest $5 mil he could ever get for his choice of charities?

Obama would win big points if he called Trump on this and upped the papers and took Trump's money.

He could use the money for a liberal leaning charity to top it off. Gay and lesbian rights causes or something similar.

I think you're right that Obama would be wise not to bother responding.

I'm sure the charities that would receive the $5 mil wouldn't mind one bit.
