(CNSNews.com) – President Barack Obama met with Defense Secretary Leon Panetta and Vice President Joe Biden at the White House on Sept. 11, 2012 at 5:00 PM—just 55 minutes after a State Department email notified the White House and the Pentagon that the U.S. diplomatic mission in Benghazi was under attack.

The meeting between Obama, Panetta and Biden had been scheduled before the attack took place, and the Department of Defense is not commenting now on whether the three men were aware when they met that day of the ongoing Benghazi attack or whether Obama used that meeting to discuss with his defense secretary what should be done to defend the U.S. personnel in Benghazi.

“Secretary Panetta met with President Obama, as the White House-provided scheduled indicates,” Lt. Col. Todd Breasseale, a Defense Department spokesman, told CNSNews.com on Tuesday. “However, neither the content nor the subject of discussions between the President and his advisors are appropriate for disclosure.” [...]

The terrorist attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi began at about 9:40 p.m. Benghazi time—or about 3:40 p.m. Washington, D.C. time. “The attack began at approximately 9:40 p.m. local time,” Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Charlene Lamb told the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee in written testimony submitted Oct. 10.

What "lie" unraveled?

If the right-wing's ultimate wet dream about what happened was 100% true, this would still be the least-scandalized presidency in decades, at least.

Innocent people died, and that is tragic, but what it boils down to is that some shit happened in a chaotic region and it wasn't handled to perfection. Happens every administration, usually multiple times. Our embassies and consulates were attacked 12 times under W. Oh, and a bunch of people also got killed on 9/11/01.

I know Fast & Furious was a frustrating disapointment for you, so there must be a lot of hope you can make something of this.

It would certainly be the least scrutinized, but that has more to do with traditional media dying than it has to do with reality. The scandals are there, but this is the best time in decades to be scandalous and get away with it.

What a load of crap. It's actually probably the most scrutinized. One problem for those frustrated that none of the "scandals" seem to have legs is that there's so much flat-out BS out there. How many still think a legit scandal is that we have a foreign-born president?

You might think he's made bad decisions, is the worst ever, etc, but "scandals" in the normal sense, as usually applied to past administrations? Nope, not there.

The reason the idea that he's foreign born persisted so long and to some extent still persists is precisely because he hasn't been as scrutinized as previous presidents. I'm starting to think you might not be middle-of-the-road afterall.
