Do you think Heaven exists?

As some of you may know or not I lost my mom 3 weeks ago and I am sort of struggling with my beliefs with this. She wanted to die so she could go to Heaven instead of getting her colon out. She definitely believed in Heaven and I honestly hope she wasn't disappointed.

My heart wants to believe in Heaven for the simple fact I want to see her again along with my grandma and sometime in the near future my dad.

My head tells me logically that there is probably no heaven and I get a little upset when people say she is in a better place because I really want to say Is she or how do you know?

So I am curious what you guys\gals believe and I am wondering outside of what the bible says has there been anything you have witnessed or experienced that lead you to believe one way or another?

Edit: I do appreciate all the kind words of support it does mean alot but I am not wanting this to be a sympathy thread so any argument for against is fine by me. There will be no offense taken. So have at it.

I don't believe there's a heaven. But the good news is that if I'm wrong, your mom is probably there and you'll get to see her again and if I'm right, you won't realize it when you die into the comfortable embrace of nothingness. So if you want to believe, I encourage you to do so. It won't hurt you and it might help you.

I find no logical reason to believe in "Heaven", or an afterlife or even a soul. Yet I find that we are all most assuredly interconnected. And I would have to be blind not to see and appreciate the unique nature of every human that I ever encountered. How is that even possible? Random chemical interaction combined with centuries upon centuries of evolution? I don't know. That is the best and most honest answer that I can give you. I don't know.

Personally, I've never appreciated the "If I'm wrong it won't matter" justification. It's dishonest. If you have faith, then embrace your faith. But don't fake it just for better odds. If there were a judgmental creator, I'd like to think that he'd see through that charade rather quickly anyway.

I don't see it that way. He might appreciate the attempt of giving Him the benefit of the doubt, so long as you tried. He's the one that gave us the power to reason, after all. At least there we are laying the cards on the table for Him. That's Pascal's Wager.

I tend to agree. I trust you understand that that's not what I'm suggesting here.

Do I believe there's a heaven with harps and angels? No. Doesn't mean I'm right though.

I do think there is another dimension or something though. I don't think once you die your 'soul' is gone.

That's a good way of putting it. I agree too.

I think it dies with it.

Here's a question: Where does it even come from?

Where does the soul come from? No idea.

Where does rational thought come from?

I will add to the thread with only this: If there IS a heaven, does that mean that there IS a Hell?
