just solo (and, to a lesser extent Audioslave, but they didn't exactly 'suck' per se)

but any of the old Soundgarden albums rock - Louder than Love, Badmotorfinger, Superunknown, and Down On the Upside...but SUK is probably my favorite too.

Fresh Tendrils, 4th of July, and the title track are my 'favorites' but there's not a wasted note on that one.

Cornell was amazing in Temple of the Dog and in Soundgarden.

His solo work is lethargic and wandering. It's never focused and it's borderline boring. His experiment with Timbaland was a disaster.

I really liked the first Audioslave record but that was Rick Rubin forcing Cornell to write lyrics and melodies for, essentially, Rage Against the Machine music. He was unhappy with the first record musically and only promised to return if Brendan O'Brien produced and he had major input on the songwriting.

Consequently, Out of Exile and Revelations were little more than Cornell solo records. They were both a little more interesting (but not by much) although Morello and Wilk (and especially Timmy) brought serious attitude that's always been lacking on Cornell's solo material.

This record sounds like a step in the right direction but I won't know for sure until I listen to a full bit rate version on the headphones at night.
