My dream electoral college scenario

This is what I'd love to see happen:

Swing States

Red:
Nevada
Colorado
Iowa
Florida
Virginia
North Carolina

Blue:
Wisconsin
Michigan
Ohio
New Hampshire
Pennsylvania

If the electoral map were to unfold like this, the electoral college count would be 269 to 269. Look at the states - not that unrealistic...

Lol, true enough. I'd like to hope that the two #1 guys from each party working closely together would help ease partisan bickering, but it's probably more likely to end in an assassination attempt.

So I guess Biden would become the #1 Democrat at that point and the Defacto leader of the party...

Why isn't the popular vote used to break up an electoral tie? Seems like it would be the logical thing to do.

Because we live in a constitutional republic and not a democracy.

Democrats hate this point, but it has a funny way of continuing to be true.

Biden wouldn't be allowed to attend any important meetings. They'd make him irrelevant

Joe would need to get his "funeral suit" ready and keep his suitcase packed because I see a lot of travel in this scenerio.

Paul Ryan would undoubtably become Chief of Staff with a probably a little more clout then most Chief of Staffs.
