The "I Voted" thread

Election day is 12 minutes away on the East Coast. This is the thread to post in once you've voted. For those of you who do vote - congratulations. You now have earned the right to complain about everything for the next four years.

Personally, I Early-Voted last Friday night. Early voting was supposed to end on Wednesday (I think), but because the storm closed it down for two days, the Gov extended it until Friday night. I drove my Dad (age: 79) out to a local community college, and we both went in to stand in the pretty impressively long line.

Dad has trouble standing, so he sat in a chair they had set out; someone apparently came and ushered right up front. I didn't see this, of course, because I was at the tail end of the line; it ended up taking me about an hour fifteen to move through. The election volunteers couldn't have been more efficient. Voting itself took about five minutes.

So go out and vote. Those of you in swing states may end up standing there for hours and hours, but it's important, and worth it. You could very well end up being the deciding vote. Then come in here and post about it.

no but registering to vote flags you for jury duty here in boston, or so I've heard.

I would do my civic duty, I just wouldn't be happy about it.

What if Romney (or Obama) were to finish with 47% of the popular vote? I think that would be a scream.

Not cool Brah... You need to man up and be available for your civic duties as well as voting the future of the country.

Yea they may do the voter reg thing but it also is pulled from income tax records and property taxes... If they want you they will call you up

I am sick of the Electoral College... I think the Presidency should be decided by popular vote.

That's rich! Coming from a brother that wants to legalize MJ, but won't pull the lever to do so.

My daughters were two specks of blue in a red state. Hopefully, only 5% can see the same color I do.

On my way into the polling place one of the town hippies came strolling out, bemoaning corporations and banks to anyone who would listen.

I asked her if she vote for Romney.

"NO!" she said.

I informed her that I was going to personally cancel out her vote in a few minutes, like it never had existed.

For the banks.

For the corporations.

Especially the corporations.

I stopped by after work today and voted. There was no line and I was in and out in about 10 minutes. They had a sign up stating no campaigning or vote soliciting past this point close to where you enter. I kid you not a well dressed man walked up to me and said he had some voting information for me. This was past the sign several yards, I took it thinking he was one of the people working there. He handed me a small pamphlet. It said vote Obama and straight line democrat on the first page I read it and turned around to see him smiling at me, I crumpled it up in my hand and told him I would let the people inside know there is an idiot outside campaigning at the entrance. He turned around and headed towards the sign shitbags helping a shitbag~

You have a pretty dumb view of US political history. To put it bluntly, since you're being rude with all of these snide posts.
