Trump? I can't even imagine voting for Trump. I'm torn between Cruz and Rand. I think I could vote for either of them, with some reservations on Cruz, but against Hillary it would be a no-brainer.

I don't think Rubio is actually getting that much traction. I still don't see what state he can win.

I don't understand this fascination with spending even more money on the biggest most badass military in the world. If you want to give more money to the military give it directly to the troops since they make squat.

I can see that you don't understand. This isn't driven by a desire to "give more money to the military" for the sake of giving money. It's driven by the desire to continue to maintain our technological lead and our ability to cover all the threats we face. That takes hardware and training. The level of pay for the troops should be driven by what it takes to recruit and retain the number and quality of troops we require, not the standard of living they can maintain while in uniform.

Loved his take regarding Welders vs Philosophers. I've been saying it for years.

Like i said in another thread, our education system, for years, has pounded college into the heads of my generation as if it were the only possible route once leaving High School.

I feel like im seeing the residual effects. Go to SEMA or any prominent fabrication/CNC/Auto shop and you'll be hard pressed to see any 20-30 year olds.

All the quality craftsmen are 40+ years old, and they all started in their 20's or younger. There's hardly any young men in these fields anymore.

No, it is pretty much cronyism. Got to keep the industrial part of the military industrial part happy and being able to spread the spending to as many localities as possible helps get votes. Even if the military doesn't want it or need it.

I understand perfectly they already have enough money. Their budget is $600 billion dollars which accounts for 54% of all discretionary spending yet they have soldiers that live on food stamps and veterans that can't get good health care. Take care of them and then come back and talk to me about more money for a $200 billion dollar worthless fighter jet.
