Any Kerosene Heater Veterans?

I'm on the edge of buying my first kerosene heater and looking for insight as far as models, safety, efficiency, but most of all health as far as exhaust from fuel burn off.

I have electric heat and its going to leave me with a prolapsed rectum come December thru Febuary. Any insight appreciated.

Home models do not have this problem provided you keep flame at recommended levels. Ridiculously high flame can create soot.

I remember the Kerosun and fireplace insert rage in the late 70s. Is it back?

I don't care what Bob Dole says about ya, you're ok in my book.

Didn't know Bob Dole had an issue with me? Must have done something wrong. I don't really understand the behind the scenes politics of CP.

Oh and Joe, I was going to mention the same thing as UberSparky pertaining to the CO detector, that's good advice. Make sure you step up and get a decent one, not a bargain Chinese garbage model for $7.99. Under the wrong conditions, it could be the only thing between you taking a dirt nap.

This isn't the exact model, but pretty close:

That is the exact model I have. It worked perfectly until I ran into this problem...

Joe: This is a decent unit and can be purchased at Amazon, or Home Depot for just under $30.00. It's a CO AND explosive gas detector. You just plug the thing into the wall, it also has a battery backup. I have two for the house and one out in the Mancave.

On a side note, I see what you do for a living UrberSparky. If you lived a little closer, I would put you to work on a couple of projects here at the house. I can do basic stuff, but when it comes to running wires and messing with a fuse box, I stay away from it. I have this thing about not wanting to burn down the house.
