Google Chrome issue

I've been having a real problem with Chrome causing my CPU to race to 100% a lot lately. This is even after a complete reinstall of the Win7 OS thinking it might have been a problem with my OS install. I have loaded the same tabs and pages I have on Chrome to Firefox and my CPU never exceeds 30% that way.

I prefer Chrome but if this continues I have not option but to abandon it. Has anyone else been having this issue with chrome?

the only addons I use are adblock and Google Voice notifier.

I think I've isolated the problem.

Type in chrome://plugins/ in the address bar. See if there's anything odd in there. Might be something there that's not listed in the GUI. Disable adblock for a while to make sure that's not it. You might try and reset Chrome. Settings\Advanced\all the way at the bottom it says Reset Chrome.

This is assuming you have some AV software
Go to settings
Click Show advanced settings
Uncheck Enable phishing and malware protection
That feature can use a lot of resources.

That was the first thing I checked, plugins. There was nothing that I didn't expect to see. I cleared the cache and that has helped but I hope this isn't the norm. Chrome didn't used to be such a resource hog. I'll try turning off adblock but it seems odd that it would only be a problem in Chrome and not Firefox.

Does seem odd, but just trying to eliminate what we can.

So far, clearing the cache seems to have cleared it up. Guess I need to see if there is a way to make it clear the cache automatically.

One thing to try is, UN-installing Chrome and running a registry cleaner, like Ccleaner and re-installing. Mileage may vary.

I've been having tons of chrome issues lately. Every time I close out of it, it resets my profile and I have to sign back into it every time and change my settings.

It's annoying as ****.

Chrome has pretty much outlived its usefulness. There are better alternatives now.

I don't know why google has turned chrome into the beast it is today. This browser used to be the best out there and had the smallest footprint. Now it seems to be just as screwy as IE.

Yeah, I don't notice much difference between Firefox and Chrome in Windows, and sometimes both can be just as flaky as IE.... which probably means it's all Windows' fault, because Chrome is great in Ubuntu.

So, yeah...
