Favorite documentaries?

The History channel website was having a good clearence sale the other day, so I ordered a couple dvd's. Last Stand of the 300, Battle of Thermopylae, and Heroes of the Holocaust. I watched Last Stand of the 300 earlier and it was very impressive. It went into detail of everything that lead up to the battle and what happened during and after. There was a lot that I didn't know about. If you are into Greek battles or Persian military history I highly recommend this documentary. It discussed King Leonidas life, Xerxes life, the sea battle that took place during the battle and what took place before a boy could become a man.

What are your favorite documentaries or recommended documentaries?

Winged Migration has always been my favorite. Ken Burns' Civil War is another of my favorites..

I watched "Buy the Ticket, Take the Ride" on Hunter S Thompson this morning. It was amazing. I've been putting off reading HST for way too long.

I've seen the one you speak of, great documentary. I've been a fan ever since "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas". Saw the movie first then read the book second. Both great in their own way, respectively.

That's a great movie, really a work of art. It's just SO chaotic. I imagine his writing is the same way, anyone who's read a lot of his have a recommendation on what I should read first?

I liked Bill Murray's comment to Depp about snapping back into his personality for the rest of your life once you take it on. I can totally understand that, he had such a great perspective.

I'd recommend reading "Fear and Loathing". I really enjoyed it, he has a visionary way words. I think Terry Gillaim did a great job bringing it to the screen. I like Terry, he's directed some good movies.

I've been thinking about picking up "The Rum Diary" another novel he wrote.

The film is set to release in 2010.
