On a radio interview with 910am Sports in Phoenix just now, Jason LaCanfora reported that Kansas City is a sleeping giant for HC and GM.

Geez...ya think maybe Haley would have grown into the job, had he received even a modicum of support from his GM??

I'm sure of it.
No, that was not the point I was trying to argue. Haley deserved to be fired. That was the point I was arguing. Whatever happened after that has no bearing whatever on my argument. **** that guy.

Um...for the Haley firing to be in any way be justifiable, there would have to have been some sort of upgrade at the position.

There has been no noticeable upgrade in any capacity for the Kansas City Chiefs since Haley's firing.

In fact :

we have a 1-win season at home
we went 8 straight games without ever having a lead
we had a player murder his girlfriend then shoot himself in front of the HC and GM on team grounds...

yeah, I think it's a safe assumption to say things have progressively gotten worse since he left.

A logical hole you can drive a truck through. ****ing up the next hire doesn't mean firing this douchebag was a mistake. It means hiring Crennel was another bigger, but separate mistake.

Well, that could be one inference; the second (and most logical, to me) is that instead of firing the guy who held the players accountable...maybe fire the guy who gave $63M to a barely servicable backup QB and spends all his time ****ing with candy wrappers in between cutting and resigning those mediocre TEs and SSs he loves so much??

I would've fired ***** and found a GM who would work with my coach and just get him a decent ****ing QB...

This isn't hindsight, either - I called the Haley firing a mistake the day it happened.

Well, it wasn't a mistake. He earned it. Hiring a new GM would have gotten him fired a little later is all.

that's purely conjecture; I think that if Haley would have had a QB who produced in a somewhat consistant manner, his bizarre antics would have curbed and there would have been a possibility of continuity and the prospect of success.

This is also conjecture.

His bizarre antics DID happen and regardless of why he did it (I blame it 100% on *****) his choice to respond the way he did is his fault.

He deserved to be fired. End of story.

Are we still really debating whether or not Haley should have been fired?

Wut?

All I care about is... if ***** listened and did the common sense thing and brought in not just an average QB, but a good QB, would the Chiefs have been competitive? If ***** even TRIED to spend a little money to improve the team.

Haley was asked to win without a QB. And with a GM unwilling to spend money. And with ZERO autonomy to build his own system. Instead, he was forced into running a 2-gap system I don't think haley wanted.

So yeah... I never said Haley was a good coach. But given the shitty situation he was given, he did okay.

given the situation...

the proof is in the pudding : every single player on this roster played better football when Haley was the coach.

I don't understand how anyone could perceive it any differently, unless it's just gainsaying.

Better than "bad" does not equal "good".

Nobody sees it differently, they were "better" under Haley.

But they weren't "good".

Furthermore, Haley's crazy behavior WARRANTED firing him.
