How many people are going to want to be doctors when they can no longer make an exorbitant amount of money at a private practice as they do now? Government doctors are usually the bottom of the barrel and get paid like the bottom of the barrel should be paid. Those that use government doctors get lesser care for the most part.

First, the quality of care at the VA is very good.

Second, Obamacare doesn't increase "government doctors." Obamacare did nothing to decrease the amount of money doctors will make. It didn't create "government doctors."

The history of care with the VA has never been "very good", it isn't even fair. Affordable Care is not what it's hyped up to be, if you don't believe that the government payout for care is less than what your current care might be paying you need to check into Medicare and the government insurances. Years ago the military had Champus, now it's called Tricare. Check out the difference between an allowed amount of payout for one of the top of the line insurance companies then check out what the military payouts are and also check into Medicare. You will see a vast difference between what they allow for the same charge. Regular health care might allow a little more than 50% of charged amounts. Medicare allows much less and the people I know that get military care only have 30-35% allowed.

Find someone on medicare and ask what they think of the differences between medicare an regular health care, do the same for military insurance. VA care is free, but if you want to use a football analogy, compare Joe Montana to Matt Cassel. If they were both doctors who's percentage of success would you want? Joe would be working for Johns Hopkins and Matt most likely would be a VA doctor.

I will concede that since the Iraq war the level of care with the VA has gotten better, but I would stop way short of calling it good.

People love Medicare because it's a funding program. It's not a care program. It's not like you go to a special Medicare doctor when you're on Medicare.
