(CNN) – Wayne LaPierre, executive vice president of the National Rifle Association, said "for all the noise and anger directed at us ... nobody has addressed the most important, pressing and immediate question we face: How do we protect our children right now ... in a way that we know works."

At a press event in Washington, LaPierre said U.S. society has left children "utterly defenseless."

A protester interrupted the NRA appearance before reporters with a banner accusing the NRA of killing children. The protester was led out of the room as he shouted anti-NRA slogans.

LaPierre added that violent crime is increasing in the U.S. due to a lack of willing to prosecute such acts.

He was on Face the Nation this morning and pretty much took Schieffer to task. The liberal knee jerk reaction of 'need to do something' was made to look pretty silly.

Haven't watched Face The Nation yet. I did watch Meet the Press, and there was no "taking to task" by LaPierre there considering he had to be reminded that "a feeling is not a fact."

His one and only "new" explained solution was to arm schools. His other solutions were stricter mental health screening not limited from locking people up for life, and locking up drug dealers for life.

When asked if a comprehensive bill was created that included mental health screening, media restrictions, stricter prosecutions, AND restrictions on gun lethality he said "he will back what works." The entire interview though was filled with him saying he knows what works and what doesn't, he's unwilling to compromise.

Considering the left is making some of the same suggestions like better mental health screening and posting armed security in schools. What else has the NRA brought? Or does it just stop there? Of course it does, that's where the NRA wants it to stop.
