*.* 2013 General Fitness Thread *.*

Welcome to 2013! Now get your ass in top physical condition!

**From the 2012 Thread**

If you want to get back into lifting, or need a new lifting routine, START HERE:

http://startingstrength.wikia.com/wi...inner_Programs

If you have questions about the SS programs, look here:

http://startingstrength.wikia.com/wiki/FAQ

Keep in mind that you're a novice lifter for a longer period of time than you think you are. Novice lifting can last anywhere from a few months to a year or two, depending on how hard you hit the weights and where you started.

Once you've reached the point where you don't make regular progress on the SS program, you are ready to move on to the intermediate stage, which can last you for a good number of years. Find it HERE:

http://madcow.hostzi.com/5x5_Program/Linear_5x5.htm

If you're a very advanced lifter (many, many years of CONSISTENT weight training), then there are lot of programs out there, and which one you pick is simply a matter of preference. If you're really that advanced, you should know what works for you and what doesn't by this point.

I've yet to see a study that shows a definitive causal link between milk products and complexion. Digestion issues, yes, if you're lactose intolerant (I am). Milk allergies (some people can't consume casein), yes. Not much you can do about the casein thing, but lactose intolerance is easily remedied. Beyond that, I've not seen any scientific evidence that shows anything that proves milk is as bad as some people want to believe.

But like I said, do whatever works for you. I, however, remain skeptical due to the paucity of evidence. I'm like that with most things, though.

That's too much. You should transfer some of that ability to me. There's no reason for one human to need to be so beastly.

Some of the Paelo principles are just theories, and going a little extreme with the caveman diet philosophy. I kind of equate it to the bible, in that while some passages are nuts, the overall principal of being a better person is similar to Paleo's principle of getting ride of processed foods. I see nothing wrong with having dairy, white rice, ect, but I don't see anything wrong with getting rid of boxed foods whose ingredients read like a college thesis.

315x20 on incline is beastly. I'd like to incline 500 in the next 18-24 months.

That's pretty much the gist of it. The name is dumb and should probably be changed to the whole food diet. The paleo aspect has picked apart.

I'll see if I can waste some time digging this afternoon but I thought that dairy and wheat (and possibly others) were damaging skin and complexion due to gut irritation/inflammation and a mild auto-immune response.

It's not considered a full blown allergy but is an intolerance.

Increased strength is one of the few benefits of aging. A lot of guys peak in their 40's.

... And my old man calves. Seriously, have you ever seen an old man that didn't have beast ass calves?

I'm in desperate need in that region. I just can't get any size in those babies.

Rotate standing and seated every day. Do that for a few months and you wont have to do them as much again

Those who stick with lifting heavy weight their whole lives definitely claim this. Most say they got stronger and denser muscles between the ages of 35-45. Such a weird phenomena but I hear it all the time from the "older" big guys at the gym.

Or maybe that's the point they started juicing.
