Bucs not planning to extend Josh Freeman

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...mans-contract/

According to Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times, the Bucs wonít be extending Freemanís contract, which expires after the 2013 season. And as Stroud explains it, the decision not to sign Freeman to a new deal could be part of a plan by coach Greg Schiano, who inherited Freeman, to get his own quarterback. And Freeman may change Schianoís mind only by playing so well this season that Freeman leaves the Bucs with no other option than to use the franchise tag or sign him to a long-term deal.

One possibility would be to apply the non-exclusive tag and to see if anyone is willing to sign Freeman to an offer sheet and give up a pair of first-round picks. That would enable the Bucs to pull a reverse Keyshawn, giving up a player and getting two first-round picks 14 years after they gave up two first-round picks to get Keyshawn Johnson from the Jets.

The Bucs likely would settle for less, since the alternative will be to let Freeman walk away.

If choice #1 is to draft Geno with the overall #1 pick, and choice #2 is to swap picks, get Josh Freeman, and draft Geno or Tyler Wilson with the #12 overall pick, then I'd have to say choice #2 sounds like a pretty good option.

He prob grew up a Chiefs fan...which IMO would at least motivate him to want to see his city win a championship...I know it would if I were him.

I'd sign him up immediately.

Keep Quinn another year as the 3rd backup, and draft a QB in 1st/2d rd depending who's there etc.

Then I'd draft another QB next year....Murray or Manziel

Going by the draft value chart the #1 pick is 3000 points... #13? 1150. An equal 2nd round pick? 450 points. 1400 points = #8. Freeman is not worth a #8.
To you he isn't.. but let me ask you, have you watched any of his games this season? Well besides when he played the Chiefs.

dont start clouding the debate with reason and rationale. we here at CP can only base our opinions on what we've seen someone else here on CP say; and decide to accept it or belittle it.

and dont forget to add insults when the others don't agree with you, after you tell them to.

Ive seen him play. The kid is inconsistent but he can be elite IMO with Andy Reid because of his skill set.

I have.

And he automatically takes a hit because he's been in the league and can't be consistent.

A complete unknown (ie. Geno Smith, Tyler Wilson) is worth infinitely more than a guy who has proven he can't prove anything. It's year 4 and he's still inconsistent. No thanks.

Neither of those players will be there at 12. If the choice is a blowjob from your wife or 250K plus you can titty**** Kate Upton, it's a no brainer, but the second one isn't happening. So take your blowjob from Geno and call it a day.

If he was that good, the Bucs would extend him. When the Bucs decide you aren't good enough to play QB, it's indicative of something.

"Buccaneers general manager Mark Dominik has given no indication he intends to extend quarterback Josh Freemanís contract, allowing him to walk into the final year of his deal in 2013.

But he said Monday that Freeman and his representatives understood what was going on, and there was no ill will between Freeman and the team."
