College basketball is no longer about shooting. It is about attacking the rim with guards and getting to the foul line. Sucks, but that's the reality...

This season, no doubt. Jordan Clarkson is going to be very effective for that reason, and might carry this team farther than it otherwise would get because of that.

But I can't imagine they don't change the emphasis a little bit next year. There has been so much outcry, I think it's unavoidable.

Also, teams are going to back it inside in zones and dare teams to beat them from the perimeter.

Good ball movement, shooting ability, passing and movement without the ball/screening (skill stuff) is so important vs. a zone.

Not sure Haith is recruiting guys with that ability at the guard spots. I like Clark and JW3. Just nervous about the wings. Namon Wright is a great athlete who is very explosive, but he's more toolsy than skillsy.

If zone defense is the future, a 6'4 guard with plus athleticism sounds good to me.

Oh, sure. I'm glad they signed him. He's a crazy athlete.

Just saying I'm mildly concerned about the roster construction. Not seeing those pure-scoring wings that are so valuable.

Though to be honest, if they land Devin Booker, this isn't a concern at all.

Either way, this is shaping up to be a very good class. Booker would have made it great, but he's not walking through that door. Haith and company did everything they could, and he went to Kentucky. Not much you can do about that one. I'm very optimistic about the future of the program...less so about the future of the sport itself.

That's a good point, and the class isn't complete. Maybe they can find room for a sniper-type wing to pair with Wright (though recent scouting reports I've watched in the past hour or so speak more highly of his shot than I remembered.)

Thoughts on the following offers:

Joe Thomasson, 6'4" PG from State Fair CC in Sedalia. His offer sheet is filled with mid-majors, but he has offers from Creighton, St. Louis, and Okie State. He has no star rating from Rivals.

Jordan Barnett: From CBC in St. Louis. Ended up committing to Texas. He also had offers from Florida, Michigan St, and Harvard. Was this a #s game where we decided to go with Gant instead? If not, that's a bad whiff, as he was 101st in the country.

Josh Cunningham (**** SF from Chicago w/ no planned visit) and Paul Turner (*** SG from Florida) are the two offers left who haven't committed.

Who likely takes the last slot?

These rules are the biggest debacle since the microfiber ball. They need to step in and change them right now.

Mossburg is the most inept defender I've ever seen.

On a positive note, Clarkson gets to the hole as well as Pressey, but he actually has the size and skill around the basket to finish.

The hope is that Post will learn enough that by the time conference season rolls around that you don't have to rely on that stiff. Jankovic has already established himself as a part of Fuller's dog house it would seem.
