21 count indictment for the mayor of chocolate city
NEW ORLEANS — Former New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin has been indicted on 21 corruption charges including wire fraud, bribery and money laundering.

The charges announced Friday come from a City Hall corruption investigation that already has resulted in guilty pleas by two former city officials and two businessmen.

The counts include wire fraud, bribery, money laundering, filing false tax returns and conspiracy.

Nagin, a former cable television executive, was a political novice before being elected to his first term as mayor in 2002, buoyed by strong support from white voters.

Hurricane Katrina in 2005 elevated Nagin to the national stage, where he gained a reputation for colorful and sometimes cringe-inducing rhetoric.

So...would this money that he allegedly ****ed around with by any chance be funds that should have/could have helped his city in a natural disaster?

You know, I was going to ask you why you put "chocolate city" in the thread title. I didn't catch it at first. What caught my eye was "21 count indictment for mayor." I just glanced up and thought, "Man. What the ****? Is Comrade Crapski being racist here because New Orleans has a large black population?" So I googled "chocolate city" and found that it was based on a racist comment made by the Mayor himself. Funny stuff, and kudos for the appropriate thread title.
